Who else is considering a Microsoft Surface?

The last thing I need is another tablet but after surfaces have been out for a few weeks I may decide to buy one depending on what sort of reputation of quality Windows 8 and the tablet itself takes on.

If I do buy one, however, I don't want an ARM based device, I would want the full experience of compatibility so I would go x86.

If anyone else is considering this purchase (or another Windows tablet), what do you think you'll do? Go the cheaper route and get a Windows RT tablet? Or go the more expensive route and get something with more power but much worse battery life?

Sticking with my iPad 3 until it's life is up in a year or two... will probably switch to a 7" one at that point like the equivalent of the Nexus 7 for that time.

I'm planning to get a Microsoft Surface depending on the price. Not sure if I'll go RT or Pro yet, again, depends on pricing. Otherwise I'll be getting a Nexus 7 or another Windows 8 tablet.

Microsoft Surface basically is an Ultrabook with the add-on keyboard.

I can't decide between the RT and the Pro, I'm heavily leaning towards the pro though, battery life will decide it for me.

Same, but they're still to announce the pricing which is fairly annoying. That and the pro version is still three months out.

First Microsoft Surface TV Advert:

*snip*
That's such a weird yet cool advert :P The only problem is that if it appears all the time on television you will end up hating it, but only because it's loud.

Not long now until any useful, decision making information comes out.

After announcing its Surface tablets nearly four months ago, Microsoft has now unveiled the pricing for both of its ARM-based Surface RT tablets at its Microsoft online stores. The 10.6-inch Surface, powered by Windows RT, will go on sale on October 26th and will be priced starting at $499 for the 32GB version without Touch Cover and $599 for the 64GB model. A 32GB version will be offered for $599 with a Touch Cover included. The 9.3mm thin tablet weighs just 1.5lbs and includes a built-in kickstand and vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case.

Microsoft listed its Surface pricing at its online Microsoft Store this morning, indicating that pre-orders will be available shortly. Microsoft's advertizing campaign for its Surface devices has already kicked off, with Surface street art spotted in a number of US cities over the past few weeks. The software maker will hold a Surface reception event for press and analysts on October 25th, and some of the company's holiday pop-up stores will open at midnight on October 26th to start selling the tablets.

Hmmm at the pricing, not quite sure how they can get away with the price for the surface type cover. Seems a bit high? The general prices of the tablet was most likely expected but would have been sweet if it was less.

16GB iPad = $499

32GB Surface = $499

Meh. I guess the Surface Pro will be even higher?

Just saw this on Engadget. I think I'll hold off for now until the price goes down some.

Although in all seriousness you'd think they'd come in at a lower price point considering it is basically a whole new ecosystem in terms of apps. The only real selling point is Office and they don't even mention that in their advert.

Is the RT version better than the ipad 3? Like in terms of screen quality and speed etc? (I know it's not out yet but judging from it's specs etc) I'm guess the pro will be quite a lot more expensive so that's out of the question really...
