Hi so I'm going to buy a Rx8 in next few days if noticed most of them being sold apparently need a oxygen sensor, which is why they are apparently low priced and have engine management light on, can anyone tell much these are and how easy to fit, plus could this be a reason for it showing the engine management light ?

Rotary engines are notorious for failing. Most only last up to 70-80k, but it really helps to find one that's been looked after. However, some failure points have nothing to do with maintenance. (I have no experience of rotary engines, and so I don't know what these are.)

Best to get one that's had a rebuild. Don't buy one that needs work. Also, I believe the tax shot up on these a year or two ago?

Been told common problem is oil, using 1/4 / 1 later per 400 miles, along as its kept oiled it can happily last to 150k without any major problems, not entirely sure if this is true, not that a member of ajap forum would have a reason to lie haha. The one I'm looking at to,borrow has done 67k, common problem is engine knocking also so we shall see !

You fool.

@tdi even said the Tax had shot up!

Have you found the problem with it yet? I only pay £30 a year tax, haha.

Having a "hot start" problem, taking it to a Mazda garage on monday see whats up, online says could be many things ranging from needs new spark plugs, to needing new engine.
Ether way, absolutely amazing car, looks the part, drives the part, inside is amazing, Just bit let down by the Rotary engine, is speedy, but reliable? Defiantly not
