Finished university in July, went for my first interview for a college lecturer on Thursday. Looking good, been put on trial, I start Wednesday.. HNC level. 19.75 an hour. Shhhhweet

Proper nervous! I'm younger than most of the students I'll be teaching. Plus I have a lecturer watching over me because I'm not fully CRB checked still.... any tips? other than get off runescape :P

"Hi I'm Zak. I play Runescape.. if you work hard today, I'll give you half an hour free time at the end of the lesson.. to play Runescape :D"

Gota work!

Good luck Zak, let us know how it goes!! Really lucky to get such a good job straight after finishing, so jealous ;)

Just be natural and try and relax. Pretend you're in your room rehearsing the lecture rather than actually giving it; really calms you down. If you're nervous it'll really show and people won't want to learn from you!

Wew, I'd love to have finished my Education and go out and get a proper job. And yeah, that wage is an amazing amount to start at! Aslong as you be yourself and go by the rules, you'll have a great time and do a fab job. Goodluck :-)

It went awful :P The teacher said it went as he expected "I went too fast, and I didn't explain things properly before I did them". I didn't freeze though I suppose. Still didn't like it :P

You'll get better when you're more used to it :).

Thanks guys. I have to do three hours teaching in a row next Wednesday. All I can hope for is an improvement on last week. If the students don't like it, o well. **** em ! :P

Good luck with it :).

Try to engage with the students. There is nothing worse than a University Lecturer standing there reading off a peace of paper. The best always engage.

Thanks so much Sam. I've been really nervous about this whole order, teaching for three hours after only doing one hours teaching ever is a real shock. First time I'd ever done a lecture (I presented the tutorial last week), it went much much much better x10 better! Last week was truly awful but even over critical me, I thought I did really well today.

Mick (The teacher observing me whilst my eCRB comes back said I did really well). Looks like this is a permanent thing, I have the job now anyway. Thanks for posting this though Sam, I felt really good after today and this just topped it off :) :) :)

I am off next week as it's their half term, but week after I'm back to work :)

edit: so many nice comments in here.. thanks a bunch you guys for supporting me. I don't have many friends in real life, so it's nice to see so many people actually care.
