right lads,
there is this chap in college who has been making a few snide remarks about me i think hes handicapped or proper mentally ill or something so i don't want to hit him and be known as the handicap basher. I let it go the first like 5 times then last week he said it again and i said 'if you say that again i'll give you a dig in the head you little ****' now lads im not violent person but im not sitting back and letting some *** jockey walk all over me. He said it again today but instead of lashing out i went to my happy place and calmly said 'you really don't help yourself, do you?' then completely blank me. i get on well with all the lads from college but this one **** really doesn't have a clue and everyone else thinks hes a proper weirdo too. When ppl were being mean behind his back I EVEN DEFENDED HIM AND SAID LADS LEAVE IT OUT but enough is enough hes on his own in this cruel cruel world. anytime i say anything to him he just goes 'I WAS ONLY MESSIN' thing is if it was anyone else he was insulting they would have given him a few slaps already. One or two mates on 'er are saying confront the tutor and ask is there something wrong with him cos this aint on but me being a manly man (with no armpit hair) i want to deal with it myself.
HELP ME IM BEING BULLIED BY A HANDICAP CHAP

Well I agree don't rise to it and not sure if you could tell a tutor or anything about it. Sure enough he should get bored quickly and move onto someone new, what do you mean handicapped?

i wouldnt treat him any different, if he doesnt listen to reason then he deserves a good dig to the chops.
you treat people different then they think they can get away with everything, maybe thats just my view.

You should probably just let your lecturers know of the situation. I have been in a few scenarios myself where a mentally disabled individual would make verbal remarks to me but I knew I couldn't do anything about it because of their health situation, so all you can do really is pity them and ignore it. Yet if this is a daily event then definitely let someone know who could potentially deal with it.
Do not retaliate though or it will be you who is in trouble. I have worked with some of the most troubled mentally disabled kids in the whole of the UK, they all get sent to a unit down in Northampton where my uncle works and I have been recruited in a few times to fill in some shifts. Now these kids are the ones that if the jelly beans aren't all the same colour in the bowl, they will rip your hair out, bite your face off and stick their heads through concrete walls and still run about mental. You just CAN'T retaliate physically.

thing is pal although this sounds like the right thing to do. It'll look like im running off to a 'teacher' to fight my battles, i don't want that, I want to deal with it myself but dno how. Might just ask a few lads in the course what they'd do but trust me they'd turn around and tell me they would have gave him a few slaps already.
Ask your lecturer if there is something wrong with him, if there's not then slap him silly

Punch him in the face
just cos he might be mentally disabled doesn't mean he shouldn't get a slap for being a little ****

Well you have two options.
Inform your lecturer who can try and deal with it, which will not look like you've ran to him for help, it'll look like you are a maturer adult that can deal with a situation better than a twelve year old can.
Or, use the closed door policy. Get someone to close that door so no one can see you've gave a mentally disabled person a few digs. ;) (Jokes.. Don't do that. Or do it. DON'T LISTEN TO ME)

Richie if you're worried about people knowing that you ran off to the tutor for help, do it in private? I doubt your tutor will tell anyone what you've asked ;P + who cares if your tutor thinks you cant handle it on you're own.
But yeah, don't physically do anything as you'll get a bad reputation.

Lmao he's calling you names? Just ignore him. You should know that trolls only troll for reactions, and you're reacting.
Don't know why you change how you type in these threads either

mr trying to be manly, sometimes the most manliest approach is the realisation that it's not appropriate for you to do anything and allowing someone with more authority and knowledge about the person deal with it (aka your lecturer).
But seriously, you guys in college think the most appropriate way to deal with someone being immature is hitting them? That's immature in itself, maybe if you spoke to him like you were a civil human being he might be more inclined to see what he's doing and move on.

I can kinda see your point Richie but as sianness; said, i'm not sure why you would want to deal with immaturity by... being immature (or taking the immature approach of just hitting him :P)

I kinda understand your situation Richie because theres a few dodgy people at our school. The only problem with seeing your tutor is that they are reluctant to do anything because they may be accused of discrimination. I would personally just ignore him, threaten him with the police if you have to (people in an authoritative position normally scare a person like this, so a threat of calling them can work), but other than that all you can do is ignore him.
Good Luck with it! :)
