This might sound like a ridiculous idea but it might get a good few people involved and may raise a few quid for prostate cancer. Not sure if anyone would be interested in doing it and wouldn't make sense if it was just one or two of us so it depends on who'd want to do it. We could do something like they do on their website http://www.movember.com (http://ie.movember.com/) but on the forum, then donate whatever was raised to the website, post pictures throughout November of us growing our beards and in return people could buy donater with a little mustash beside it or something?

This could go terribly wrong if it goes ahead.. my hair doesn't grow normally it grows out in patches. Massive petal patch of a chin.

Voted no just because I hate facial hair :P obv it's a great cause especially considering how little support men's health gets in general, so obv I'm not against you lot doing it just that I'd rather donate without the 'tache ruining my face lol

I think a few people here have this misconception :P.

It's been left far too late to do this. We have to ask Jin if we are going to donate it all to a charity and to be honest I can't see the point when we have christmas vip coming up next month which will all go to chairty as well. Feel free to make a thread to post about it and donate on the official website though!

Can we not have the donator anyway as LTD for the month...

The money would be going to Habbox and not to the charity. As our charity work starts in December.

No because I have already got this months donator planned out as voted in the poll a few months back.

From the output of this thread it looks like more people would buy donator if it was going to a charity ? ;)

I was already in contact with Jin about the matter since I can't on my own decide Habbox is going to do something for charity by selling donator or VIP. For a good few years now every December Habbox has donated all the money it has made in that month through the sale of VIP to a charity or a number of charities. While Movember may be for a good cause and it's nice to see users wanting to support it - It would be best for them to donate money via other means and not through Habbox. We are still going to be raising money in December. Don't forget Habbox has bills to pay and December always comes out of the owners pocket.

But thanks for calling us fools!

Matt, superdrugs are doing a 2-4-1 on tampax, I'd really check that out.
seriously though...

I'm in no doubt sure that people would buy MORE for the fact you're doing it for charity. I'm sure 3x more. I think it would be better, for instance doing this and the december thing because no offense but doing something once a year is boring. Do it x2 and it's more effective, better publicity and keeping things new.

As for you saying that you do a lot for charity, that's good. But for me personally I don't mind giving to charity but Movember is closer to my heart and something myself and most of my MALE (of course...) friends are doing - so I'd be involved.

I don't mind giving to the GOSH or MIND or whomever else we do but Movember means more to me, and actually offects me. I remember someone asking for Yorkhill last year and them being told "Yorkhill is regional..." and GOSH isn't?

So no, you're being fools for being too rigid - the usual "it's too late, we need Jin to hold our hand".
You'd make more from it being half and half; people care more for charity. (Seen a loaf in Asda, 2p to every £1 loaf sold donated to Breast cancer... loaf was sold out and it was a PUMPKIN SEED LOAF!)

Don't be stupid. I don't have the power to say that the money going into the account that Habbox uses which remember, isn't in my name is going to be used on charity and not the bills to pay for the server. The decision comes from the owners of the fansite which has been made. You should also read my posts, I never said it was too late - Chris said it was too late. But I contacted Jin anyway on the matter. This is a decision I can't make on my own because of the reasons I have stated in this post, if you think I do have the power to do that then bloody hell.

Your original post didn't say that .
I'm just saying personally it's a good idea, personally it's a bad idea to the use the same old "big bad Jin is in bolivia the now, we can't find him to ask" and stick to "Jin said no."
or "We don't want to" cos that's clearly all it is, nothing stopping our Movember run from 4-5th dec.

The post hasn't been edited, I just didn't mention it in my first post in this thread. But you still can't read. Jin told me to tell you to remind you all that Habbox have bills to pay actually - Which I stated in my post to you when you called us fools. The decision has come from the owners of Habbox.

It's nothing about Jin being used as an excuse or we can't find him. He was actually asked by me via a text. I swear you only visit this forum once in a blue moon to break a few rules here and there and then log back off. This was a decision for the owners as I have 0 control over the money that Habbox makes through the sale of donator/VIP.

Matt for someone complaining about rules being broken... get manners and act in example .
What rules have I broken? What I didn't sprinkle **** with glitter? I'm talking from MY opinion that's why MY post's are written to include PERSONALLY or I FEEL. Stop being blind sighted and realise with passion comes raw energy, not someone flouncing around.

Who **** on your pillow?
PS: you're totally being homophobic because of my disability. not being able to read and that, innit. *****.

Are you being a troll tonight then? I never stated the posts in this thread but others and in the past when you have come back onto the forum. No one has **** on my pillow, I am just posting the honest truth and the facts about the decision of this.

Me being homophobic? If I was homophobic then surely half of the forum would be banned considering. Don't be so stupid, I have no problems with gays or lesbians.

I don't troll, care for what people think or see the necessity in being fake for other's benefit. I pop in occasionally, post if i want to. Maybe you're overly sensitive. a mood stabiliser will help that.

I just would think it's beneficial to habbox and of course charity.

Yes and your view is allowed like everyone else's in this thread saying it was a good idea. I never said Movember was a bad idea, I am just saying it would be best for Habbox to not do it and leave our charity work until next month. Anyway, that would also need to have permission from the owners of the fansite which I already contacted about it and explained it in post aimed to you when you called us all fools.

If I hurt your feelings, please accept my apologies. I'll handwrite some postcards. "Apologies for hurting your feelings, here is a picture of my moustache. I hope you receive this as I know real life is difficult when you take things too seriously on a forum".

I wasn't personally insulting you when I said fools. It was a generalisation. get over it.

Now you're just playing games.
I shan't reply anymore; nothing constructive to add and I doubt I'm helping much as the pace is set. No one is open to charitable donations...because bills have to be paid.

life is life.
Why is this thread still open!?

I'm going to support the idea of Movember because I realize that women get way more cancer support than men do.

About getting Donator/VIP and getting members to buy it, it's really up to the owners, but I doubt we'd lose anything by doing it. (And I'm not just saying this because this way I can buy donator, because I can't.)

I was surprised it went two pages without anyone bringing up the revenue thing. Many times doing a charity thing has been suggested and it's usually not done because what makes this more relevant than a natural disaster, or than breast cancer awareness month, etc. etc. Plus 1/12 months of revenue is a big enough hit to Habbox.

RE: People purchasing 3x as much, in which case they still have three months of donator so for those three months they do not buy donator so it's 50% of lost future revenue. Whereas if they buy normal donator then its no lost revenue. The majority of people who buy in charity times were going to buy anyway. There is not enough new purchase intent created to offset the lost sales.

Also picking charities, what is a valuable cause, etc. Next tsunami, why don't we redirect charity funds? We did it for Movember!
