I've decided to post this now instead of waiting for Wednesday as I feel no one will mention any other charities apart from the ones that have been mentioned already and we do have a pretty big list for the poll as well. Due to the amount of charities this won't be the final poll - This poll will be used to short-list them and then we will have another poll to decide which charity Habbox will support this year.
I hope that makes sense and if it doesn't them feel free to ask me questions. The poll is multiple choice so you don't have to pick just one at this stage.

I didn't think that would be important in making the choice of which charities that should be short-listed :P

Yeah it was, any of the charities that Habbox has donated to in the past hasn't made it to the list.

Well no, but for people I don't know then I wouldn't care that much. I'm not saying I wouldn't be bothered but I feel more sorry for animals. But in general I give my vote to animals.

I urge people to keep voting for the Foundation for Suicide Prevention, it's a cause that doesn't get enough support and unlike animal charities actually makes a difference in the world. Seriously if you find a cold dog more tragic than a human in such despair that they cannot fathom the possibility that life could ever be worth living then you're a disgusting person

I agree with tom and andy. I don't mind which charity wins really, but I would hate to see the money donated to an animal charity over a human one.

I think most of us now really understand that you disagree with the animal charities. I'm sorry but not all of us have the same opinion as you and some others about human and animal charities. Let's just wait and see how it goes.

I implore you to vote for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research UK because they do so much for sufferers of leukemia (a blood or bone marrow cancer that when diagnosed in children can ultimately be fatal during adulthood) and lymphoma (an immune system cancer that affects primarily those with HIV)
Their site can be found here: http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk/
Approximately 100,000 people are diagnosed with these and related cancers every year in the US and around half of these die. Leukemia is the most common cancer among children under 18 in the US as well.
A statement from their site says:
"At any one time Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research have:£65 million committed to life-saving research
260 active research projects around the UK to beat blood cancer
By investing in the best UK research into blood cancer we aim to find a cure for all these diseases and improve the quality of life for all patients touched by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related conditions."
1 in 6,250 people (which might not seem like a lot, but it really is) die every year from leukemia and in the US the survival rate for the next 5 years is really quite low, at about 55-60%
In 2002, about 200,000 people had a history of leukemia in the US in 2002, which is about 0.1%
Voted for:
The Scout Association, Shelter Box, Charity: Water, Kids Inspire, Demelza House, Dyspraxia Foundation, Drop4Drop, Acorns Children's Hospice, Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Aid for Africa, Women's Aid, Young Minds, Depression Alliance, Action for Children in Conflict.
Did a google of all of them and made a choice; mainly voted for so many to give them a head up over the animal charities

Aw cats protection didn't make it :(
Voted for prevention of suicide, dogs trust and blue cross.
I have two dogs, but really, I do think that money should go to humans. Let us cure our problems and then focus on them. Without us they have no hope.
Honestly, I love my dogs, rabbits and cats but if I had the choice to save a life over them, as much as it would kill me, I would choose a person. But don't get me wrong, my dogs are my best friends.

So pleased to see the Prince's Trust on there, they have done AMAZING things for me.
I did a twelve week course with them to gain a City & Guilds in Personal Development and Contributing to the Community. This qualification and the skills gained throughout this course is what got me such an amazing job as a Support Worker; I get to care for adults with Autism, Epilepsy, and other disabilities; the best thing about the job is that I take them out on activities like sailing, swimming, fishing, walks, days out (beach, shopping) etc.
Such a rewarding and satisfying job; thank you for putting the Prince's Trust in here! I really hope they get somewhere.

Quite right, I actually nulled my original vote to add in Prince's Trust when the option became available because they are a truly amazing organisation. I didn't go through them personally but I was going to before I (totally by chance) discovered my path by myself, and from what I've seen of their work it's probably the best charity in the world for youth development and investing in society's future

110% Agree with you there, it took some time (Nearly two years ago I did the course) but over a month ago it paid off and got me such an amazing job.
I met some amazing people upon the course who were so willing to help out; and the other things that the Trust do for people is absolutely amazing; I know there are a few good charities within the list but The Prince's Trust got my one and only vote, I hope to see it in the shortlist and I URGE more people to become aware of the Trust and what they can do for youths.
I wouldn't mind posting a thread about them sometime soon.

Yeah if you get the time for it then a little report on your experience with them would be really good in the education/employment forum, think there are a fair few members at or coming up to college age and probably won't know that these options exist

Definitely, it is a little hidden gem that's available for young teens-adults (16-25), you can do it whilst unemployed, or get supported from employment to go ahead and do it, gain training qualifications etc. I might write up about it tomorrow after work.

Considering this poll is closing tomorrow, I don't think it's even worth adding it. Because it wouldn't get enough votes to be put in the short-list of charities for the second poll.

thanks ever so much for adding NACC to the list even though it won't get the majority vote as not many people really know about it and know of the amazing work they do:P
voted for dogs trust, the dream factory, blue cross, NACC, smile train and believe in magic
i was a scout myself and i still think it's horrible that scouts association has more votes than the charities like NACC, charities for ill children and the other charities with less votes that are there to make peoples lives more comfortable and worth living... seriously
