All the cinemas around me are only doing 3D :/ I hate 3D I can't see it properly. Obviously my brain doesn't function right.

That being said I have been waiting for this movie for AAAGES! Since LOTR I have been praying they would do the Hobbit and I am so glad they are. I'm currently re-reading The Hobbit to get in the mood for the movie! :)

It better be good 'cause they've stolen Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman from Sherlock to do this!!!!
Gets my hopes up.

I'm curious to see how the 48 fps will work out, might solve the problem of the diminished brightness due to 3d.

There's normally a non-3D (2D? LOL?) option too.

I know there usually is too.. but for some strange reason the Empire near me hasn't put tickets up for a 2D version yet :/?

Wow, what a movie. Watch it at the premiere last night and it was one of the best movies I've seen.

The quality watching it with a High Frame Rate is exceptional - crystal clear and it feels like you are there, not to mention the added brilliance of 3D. It was a very very well made movie with awesome special effects. So smooth to watch, ran flawlessly. If you are going to see this movie I would definitely recommend you watch it at a High Frame Rate - 3D adds a lot to the movies as well.

I had no problems with this movie at all, great storyline and no really boring bits when you think hurry up & get on with it.

Definitely recommend you go and see this movie, even if you're not a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy or movies similar to The Hobbit.

10/10 by far.

It's not too long at all, I think people expect Peter Jacksons films to be short like 1 & a half hours like other films. But lets face it, all his films are long and interesting. For me it was perfect length, could of gone on another hour and I would of been comfortable.

and Celtix; that is 'what quality are you watching this film in', it isn't a thread about the discussion of the movie. If you can't post anything relatable to the movie, don't post at all thanks.

Threads from last month? Nice. Think it's time for a fresh one don't you think, and if the mods have a problem with it I'm sure they could merge the threads together. You don't need to be going around telling people what they can & can't do. If I want to make a new thread I will, those threads are outdated.

I have to travel to see the 42fps 3D at Newcastle.

Can not wait, Richard Armitage <3. Sherlock is going to come back next year

Haha, it's worth the travelling :) 42fps and 3D makes the movie even more spectacular. Even the landscapes look amazing.

Nah not mad, just don't like people who think they are right about everything when they're clearly not :)

Awesome movie, might go see it again.

As I made my boyfriend spend an hour in Primark I said I'd go watch the movie with him in 3D tomorrow; he even said that me watching it with him was worth a free lunch for me so basically I see a movie and get my lunch paid for. I'm sort of looking forward to it although I've only ever played Lord Of The Rings on the Xbox years ago but The Hobbit does sound interesting.

42? It was the hobbit not HHGTTG ;) I expect you meant 48 :P

On topic: I imagine the landscapes would look better, but does it end up looking like a documentary rather than awesome cinematography that was in LOTR?

OOPS MY BAD HAHA! yeah 48

It doesn't look like a documentary, it's just a lot clearer and **** loads better to watch at HFR ; if you add the 3D, no joke it actually feels like you're there. The cinematography is better in The Hobbit than it is in LOTR imo.

Its just like Harry Potter & Twilight, some people like it & some people hate it. I personally can't stand Twilight & Harry Potter- I don't read but I just cant watch the movies - I feel they are terrible.

You have to be into The Hobbit & LOTR type movies to watch them, and tbh I wish they made The Hobbit first as it comes before LOTR so yeah.

Watched the movie, i think it's spectacular, really enjoyed the movie despite the lengthy running time. Haven't seen it in 3D but i believe the landscapes and colours would be amazing in 3D. Not as great as LOTR but still think it has a rich plot. Definitely worth a watch!

I went to see it today with my grandparents. I didn't think I would have liked it because when I first watched LOTR I couldn't concentrate. I was at a younger age though so that's probably linked but I did quite enjoy it. Can't wait for the others to be released now! :P

I went and saw it before watching any of the films and I loved it so much, went with the 3D option and opted for the high-frame rate due to opinions on here. However, me and my boyfriend thought it went a bit too quick in some places as though it was a bit blurry but really glad I went to see it and I'll probably go see the others :) x.

Can someone answer me this. If I've never really seen or liked LOTR - will I like this regardless? I've read some of the book which is alright but could only really get into some parts. People have been saying it's just like the book?

The film is practically identical to Fellowship of the Ring in terms of pacing and the timing of critical events.

If you don't like Lord of The Rings, then you won't like this since they're pretty much the same.

Like Samanfa I saw The Hobbit with only having viewed sections of The Lord Of The Rings and I saw it in IMAX 3D. It was pretty good IMO, it dragged out a bit and the ending really made me want to watch the next one. Overall I quite enjoyed it but I would have preferred it to be in 1 film.

the hobbit was always a known children's book, of course it's going to be childish
ALTHOUGH ill agree it looked cartoony.
think they could if cut it shorter, how are there going to be another 2? I just reread it and have no clue how they're gonna fill the time

The LOTR appendix and by showing stuff not in the book such as Gandalf going off and fighting **** on his own.

I love it, I've seen it twice now, once in 2D and once in 3D, It's pretty long just like LOTR films but I was surprised how fast it went and they haven't changed much from the books which is good, I'm so excited for the next one.
