I don't mean to be the negative ***** which I usually am but since there isn't a thread I thought I'd leave some feedback. The page will obviously be helpful if the website goes down in the future but it's actually quite concerning, we have a website dedicated to downtime. It just seems like a waste and to me shouts out we will have more downtime. Are we expecting sudden outages or what's the story? I thought twitter was fine as Matt is usually straight on the case asap informing us about the website and when it'll be back up. Obviously now that the website is done, it's just going to sit there, so there's no much to give out about now that's done. So, are we expecting regular downtime in the near future?

Most larger websites have status pages. Nothing to worry or complain about.

I reckon it's pointless, I mean, if I go on HxF, I'll know if it's down or not... I don't need to go to another website to find out? And if we get updates on how the downtime is going, they are usually on the maintenance page, are they not?

Lmao was waiting since last night for a feedback thread on this.
I think it's an alright idea and is a better alternative than going onto Habbo to ask if hxf is down or whatever. However, I'll probably just stick to: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ for now :P

agreed, and I thought twitter/facebook etc was meant to be the main communications hub for habbox, seems silly having a completely different site for people to remember. I doubt it will be used much anyway since the majority of our userbase aren't the kind of people to go to a specific website when habbox is visibly down. We are a habbo community so news would spread fast anyway, it normally is in HxHD for instance. Most people just ask someone "is habbox down" anyway and get an answer straight away. Not sure why twitter wasn't suitable for this? Since Matt is pracitcally always online anyway :P
I think its concerning if we 'expect' downtime, since it should always be kept to an absolute minimum anyway (especially unexpected downtime), and having a site dedicated to it is kinda celebrating it in a way which shouldnt be the case.
Planned maintanence can make use of the maintanence page anyway, and I don't see what is wrong with twitter/facebook/habbo/word of mouth/downforeveryoneorjustme.com (or w.e its called) isnt suitable enough and a whole new domain had to be made. :P I guess it will be okay if anyone uses it, but it just seems a bit pointless and a waste of time, when resources should be going full into V7 right now.
Not complaining or anything, and I guess to some people its nice, just not my kind of thing haha.

Any website will have downtime, Habbox may have had a lot during the past few years but our uptime has improved quite a lot thanks to Tom and having server access. We don't expect to have a lot but we do not know what will happen in the future.
HabboxStatus is not being funded by any donations given to Habbox
It wasn't worked on or made by anyone working on the V7 project
Twitter is good but you are limited to 140 characters per tweet. If we have something "big" going on, we can explain it a lot more in depth on HabboxStatus.com
You aren't being made to use it but if we have information, it will probably be on there.

Whoever asked about V7:
It will be done when it's done. Not the best answer but it's better than rushing it all and releasing a site that doesn't work for the users. Plans change all the time and it can't be expected for the guys to be working on it all the time when they come online. One of them has recently moved to Berlin due to their job and they don't have the greatest internet connection at the moment so that's slowed some progress. Once we come close to a "release date" - I am sure we will let you all know. Hell we may even show you more progress on it when we can.

You tell them Kieran! I liked the idea of it from the second I heard of it. At the end of the day this isn't your profession or real job and people need to separate reality from the virtual world.
What you choose to do with your own time is up to you, if you want to make something you can and shouldn't be questioned or queried for it.

It was basically an idea that came to us when the server was down the other evening. It's a free tool and money came out of our pocket. It's just something that can be used freely if you want to see if we are down and why. We are still going to be using our social media pages - We have increased activity on those within the past week if you haven't noticed.
It also gives us the chance to explain to you what is going on if any problems with our sites and it's not going to be back up within a couple of minutes. Which means better communication which is always a win win.
Hey, If I was given a free tool to use I wouldn't complain at all :P
Ps. Plus it has a dedicated page to Bertie. Surely that should make you happy? :(

I may not use it (only to see if anything else has been added onto it perhaps) but there's going to be peopel who find the statistics and such interesting on it - I don't mind if it's free or not, it serves it purpose. Maybe the time now wasn't the best to make it but it's here now but fingers crossed the sites won't go down much.

I'm just going to chime in, and I don't want to come across as selfish or rude but it is a little...
I don't see what I contribute to Habbox as work done for Habbox, I see it as something I choose to do in my free time to expand my knowledge and help me learn various languages or whatever, pushing it out to Habbox users is just a bonus in my opinion... so I don't see the reason for people to complain about something that only brings about good.

Will you relax yourself, all I was doing was asking a question. Bleeding dope stop overreacting. As for the v7 questions, there's no need to get angry, people were expecting changes five months ago so they're more than entitled to ask questions about it. If you guys didn't want to be constantly harassed maybe management should have made sure everything was at the ready before setting a release date. I know there was complications but five months of complications makes me wonder.
it won't be of any use to me as i don't understand any of it but as long as other people find it useful i can't see any problems with it. it's hardly anything to kick up a fuss about considering it hasn't wasted any money/time/whatever else. :P cool beans

Ah, seems like a nice little addition, I haven't cached it out yet, but if there are statistics on there could we get like a graph of forum activity e.g posts per month etc on there? Also don't see why everyone's complaining when it literally doesn't negatively affect them, if they have no interest in it then don't go on it? It's not as if majority of the coders time or Habbox's resources was spent on this...

The lack of maturity shown by both members and staff in this thread is definitely concerning. When I saw the idea I was slightly speculative of it's relevance but I have since been able to have a look around the site properly. I can see why it may be interesting or useful for some and I can also empathise with Recursion; 's idea that he is in fact developing himself at the same time as developing things for the fansite. I personally don't see it as much of a biggy.

When the server was down we tweeted a picture of Berite (lego head) in front of the "This website is offline" cloudflare message" - You can see this here: https://twitter.com/Habbox/status/267687486749294593
We did it for fun and as a joke because there was nothing else we could have done at that specific time as we was waiting for the server to reboot. Plus we thought it would be a fun thing for the users to see. We then released HabboxStatus and put a Bertie page up and basically said he is our server technican blah blah and we will blame him for any issues.
Of course he isn't real - But seeing as people like the photos of him we thought we would keep it going and do photos of him on a regular basis.
In terms of "Going outdoors more" - Fair enough but it's just for fun. If we can't have fun then we may as well just live our lives lonely and have no fun in it at all.

Although it isn't actually needed, it's always good to work on something small and different once in a while rather than sticking with the same project and it doesn't really cost anything besides the domain so why not! As Richie said, hopefully there isn't too much downtime with it.
As for the V7 questions, fair enough on everybody asking about it because as far as I know it was due around September. I'm not blaming the coders or anything, as they've most likely done a **** load of work already and it'll be better waiting for when it's actually ready.

Telling members of the forum to watch their back, What are you going to try physically harming them? I said i quit the forum to a few people, As i needed time to work, Which I have now done, Now I have returned, Not sure why that matters to you? Hardly picking on, considering it was a common argument.
Cheers for your comment.
Watch your back
Now, I've never intended to swerve this thread off-topic to an argument, seeing as it'll be a pathetic argument. I simply brought it up because you seem to not get over it, hence why you act like an 8-year old in your actions. Feel free to add to continue this on VMs or PMs if you wish.

No, no I genuinely didn't get the whole thing about the enlarged lego head named Bertie, but now I get it :P.
No worries, I guess it would be confusing at the first.
I'll post this for anyone who hasn't seen it on the HabboxStatus.com site.
Who the hell is Bertie you say? Bertie is our Lego head technician who works at Habbox. He is the person we will blame if anything goes wrong with any of the Habbox websites. You may have seen him on the Habbox twitter account! He lives in the Habbox offices and loves eating KitKats and Jaffa cakes. Want to see a picture of him I hear you scream? Coming right up...

Maybe it would be cool to add it to this thread: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=764101&p=7750043#post7750043 :P
Seeing as I'm sure many people don't know who he is and it'll be great if other do, otherwise they'll be like me and very confused!

Just a min height or height important!

It's the .container div's height getting set at the element level. I would have though height:auto would work :S

Is it not because the images are loaded after though and the reason it works when you navigate to another page and back is because you have cached the images?

Might be, the more important issue though is that the div's should automatically expand to fit the images, the reason it doesn't is because the page loading JS is setting the height for no good reason.

That's true. I was wondering why the template was done like that myself.

Interesting website but I won't use it, a simple "website didn't load error" is enough for me.
As for the hate, I don't think it helps that you feed the haters - saying "nothing to worry or complain about" is an invitation to do just that! A simple - "it's something we did in our spare time and with our own money, enjoy it :)" would of worked, but PR has never been a strong characteristic of here :P

We never said we were good at PR! We hired Bertie to deal with that for us though.
