Already?! how did you manage that? Anyway your local game may be able to sort it for you, mine does it and they don't charge much.

Dogs. I had my headphones and charger plugged in, they run in and run into the wires and my Xbox landed on its side so it scratched and hopefully it's not that much to get it removed...

For games i really play a lot i purchase the protection when i buy it, normally $3. I damaged Black ops 1 within an hour of getting it, went back to the store and they just exchanged it :) lifetime best $3 i ever spend.
I tend to install games to my hard drive as soon as I get it. Less noise, less overall wear.

One of the arguments is that if you've got it standing up (usually to fit in a gap) it blocks most of the vents so the system could overheat, plus like someone else said, it's far easier to get knocked over and the disc scratched.
To the OP, don't bother fixing your disc, get a friend to bring their copy over, use it to install the game to the hard drive and then you'll be able to play just fine. When games are installed, all the Xbox does is spin it for a minute or so to make sure the game is the right one you're trying to play then it'll stop.
aww what a rotten bit of luck

Last time I had an Xbox on it's side it overheated, never have while it's been upright (touch wood).

iirc Game Station do. In future you should install the game to your hard drive (Assuming you have xbox) and if you scratch the disc it should still work. Also runs quieter and potentially better performance.
