View Full Version : Mention tool in quickly editing posts
PLEASE can you chuck in the Mentioin, Spoiler, Bad spoiler & Strike through and tools in the quick edit interface? It's a tad irritating having to go into advanced mode to edit a post because I've spelt the mentioned person wrong and lost the tag, then try and edit it and have to type [MENTION] out n all that.
It's already in the quick reply I think, so I dunno whether this would be a big ask or just a click of a button but it'd be really handy for me, and I would hope others agree it'd be an alright thing to have.

Did you put the ; after the name? it only works when you add that. Should work fine...
Edit: ye what dave said!!

Did no one read my guide? :(
I've decided to create a small guide that explains on how you can use the user tagging system which is also known as mentioning another user. There is two main ways of doing this and below shows you both ways and how they work.
Adding the @ sign yourself:
http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/l02mt.png
The following must be done: username; - The semi-colon at the end needs to be there to make sure it works for all users. If it isn't there then the mention will not work.
Using the BBCode Button in Quick Reply & Advanced Editor:
http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/R3Okh.png
The button on the quick reply editor and the full advanced editor has the same http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/xqNw.png image for what can be used to mention another user in your post. To use this button then do the following:
Click the button: http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/xqNw.png (This has also been highlighted in the screenshot above in the spoiler.)
This will then automatically put these tags in the post:
Enter the username such as xxMATTGxx in the middle of the tags so it looks like this:
http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/zj4nT.png
Finish your post. A semi colon is not needed if you are using the button method, the first method the semi-colon is needed.
Note: The buttons will not appear if you are using the "Basic Editor" - You can change the editor by going to User CP > General Settings.
Hope this helps and prevents any confusion.

It used to work without the semicolon but we got a new plugin for it haha.

It would be nice if you type with the @ sign then it tries to finish the name, like the PM system does e.g.
@xxMat would show xxMATTGxx and XxmateusxX, then we can click on to auto fill.

Well if someone good with JS can rewrite http://www.habboxforum.com/clientscript/vbulletin_ajax_suggest.js?v=420 to autofill @..
