sooo its coming up to that time of year again and im just wondering does anything have traditions they do year in year out with family/friends or even just on their own?

mine is when we are putting up the decorations my mum makes sure everyone is there too help then we always order Chinese that night and stop like halfway through when the place is a mess and eat it. nothing amazing or whatever but yeah we do it every year!

We stay up on Christmas Eve watching TV, eating junk and stuff until midnight when we open all our presents there and then play charades or whatever until 3am and then my mum puts the Christmas Dinner in the oven and leaves it to roast and then we all go to sleep until about 1pm.

hmmmm. my mum usually puts up the tree alone but when we were younger we'd all go out and pick our favourite tree together then cut it down!!

christmas eve we visit cousins, although each year it gets later and later and now we only spend about 2 hours with them. we always wait until 6 o clock though to watch santa leaving his house on the news!!!

christmas day we all wake up, go downstairs together and open our santa presents, then we have breakfast. then we give each other the family presents. after that we're all hungover so go back to bed for a bit, then maybe visit my grandma. my cousins just live down the road, so we rotate christmas dinner. every second year its at our house obviously, here we all get drunk again and ***** about our other relatives that aren't as cool as us and then we play some guitar hero or just dance or karaoke OR if we're talking old school we used to play trivial pursuit.

then they leave and usually me and my brother will watch a movie together, then i'll go see my friend that lives a few doors down. or i'd go see a boyfriend, but this year it'll be the friend.

To stick up our Christmas decorations listening to Christmas songs.
To have a takeaway on Xmas eve and then go to midnight church, come home have some mulled wine then go to bed.
On Christmas day to split up all the presents then open them together.
To go to the Winter Wonderland in Edinburgh City Centre and go to the German Market etc, that's when i get into the Christmassy mood :D

Does anyone watch the Queen's speech nowadays? I've never and don't intend to watch it, not really a fan of the monarchy.

Things have changed over the years but these are my traditions:

Put decorations up, together maybe but not set in stone.
On Christmas Eve we try stay awake (me and my sister) to wait for Santa; in previous years we'd top and tail on our bed but that's grown old. Also, my nanny used to stay with use from Thursday-Sunday each week but with Christmas she used to stay Christmas Eve then we'd take her to her other home at my uncles.
on Christmas day me and my sister wake up about 4am, open our presents in our stockings, I usually am hungry around this time so my parents make sure I have chocolates to open but last year they knew what I'd do so put me crisps and a banana in.
Then we go back to sleep, at 7am (9am usually now) we wake up our parents, don't look in the living room to keep the magic alive and go have a drink and sometimes breakfast.
Then we go in living room and open our presents, after that we chill for a bit, get dressed, have something to drink (like tea, coffee) and have breakfast. We go to my auntie's house, then my uncles to exchange presents.
In previous years we'd have Christmas dinner at my aunties but we have it at home now.
Then we go home, have our dinner and do whatever we want; my auntie makes me a trifle so we eat that :D.

my family have a few traditions:

- we go to the cinema on christmas eve
- we always have them chocolate croissant things for breakfast on christmas day
- we go for a long walk to walk my dogs on christmas day, its really nice in the snow
- we always go to a restaurant for our christmas dinner
- we have a big massive family meal on boxing day

we don't really have that many traditions as its nice to change things once in a while :)

When my Great Aunt was alive my whole family would go up to her house and we'd all order in Chinese Food and play tons of games and all that, it was really fun. Now my family and I go up to my uncle & aunts xmas eve and visit other family members durin the xmas week.

You get snow... in England? :O

The latest craze is:

- I put up the decorations shortly after the 2nd December and swear constantly
- Go to a midnight service with my mum and nan on Christmas Eve at my nan's church to see in Christmas Day
- Go to a Christmas Day service at another Church
- Set the table while the rest of the family cook or watch TV

Pretty simple really :P

My mum always puts up the things we've made in school from Christmas cards to paintings of Santa, so her walls are covered in my artwork from when I was about 2 - 10...

For Christmas Day itself, we wake up, take turns opening a present each and end up having Christmas Dinner at lunch time and spend the rest of the day with our parents :P

Boxing Day I always end up round someones house for a buffet :P

We used to have a lot, when we were younger. We would always go to this house that put up a ton of lights to raise money for charity. We used to wake up ridiculously early, and go down as a family to open presents, and then mum and dad went back to sleep and me and my sis would pick a new dvd to watch. Although, my granny died in 2006 and since then my mum doesn't really enjoy Christmas. It's just not the same without her :( Last year, she didn't even put our tree up, and my street's pipes froze, so I had to go get showered in my friends house. disaster lmao

Anyway the usual routine, go downstairs and open presents, get ready, head round to my cousins and see what santa has left them. Come home and have dinner. Die cause we have ate too much food. Watch some telly and eat pavlova mmmm. In the evenings, all the family go to my cousins house, chat, play games, and they all get drunk to like 6am lmao.
