View Full Version : HabboxLive Silence.

Sometimes for whatever reason a DJ does not book, and the previous DJ cannot cover. We are left with a silence. This is bad as it means listeners go down to 0 and it generally does not make it appeal to first time viewers if there is nothing playing.
I propose an automated system that kicks in after 10 minutes with no cover. It has a selection of lets say 5 songs that play over and over untill a dj can get online.
Better for everyone.

I thought that idea was going to be tested back when Logan was manager?
Systems like that do exist, essentially AutoDJ systems and really I don't see much of a problem with it. Habbo fansites have changed and so has most of the audience with it. Having a stream of constant music as to some squeaky teenager interrupting and talking about Habbo & Habbox wouldn't be such a bad idea.
and here we start again with the HxL feedback. I'll wait for others to get the ball rolling.

Hey!
And they wont if its a repetitive soundtrack. Nothing can really replace a dj, it just stops their being "dead air".
an auto DJ is only good if there is true variety. Besides, DJs will start relying on it too much. It's a pain as it is to get DJs to be really enthusiastic now, which also needs changing.

I vote for Doctor Who music. Wait, is this for the Auto DJ? I can see that being on all the time instead of actual people. We always have these threads about AutoDJ so waits for all the other replies.

Obviously an offline radio won't give good impressions to potential listeners but realistically the only people tuning in now are doing it for one of two reasons. Either to listen to a specific DJ or for an event. Adding an Auto DJ wouldn't have any significant bonuses to justify it, and if anything the negative aspects (DJ's relying on it) would far outweigh any possible benefits it might bring. Also, if people do tune in and it is just an auto DJ they will probably exit as they would only be tuning in to listen to the DJ, if they wanted streamed music they would just play their iTunes library/Spotify or listen to a mainstream radio station...

Not going to happen... Habbox owners will not pay for AutoDJ as it cost quite a bit and it would have to cover like 40 hours a month. Another is the same songs would get boring.

I think Doctor Who music would fit nicely.
Had lots of discussions about this and the answer is no auto dj as the staff will rely on it too much and eventually HxL will be dead
Indeed. The only way I would ever agree to it if it was proposed would be as a temporary relief measure during the overnight hours and not use it during peak, then once more int. DJs are recruited remove it completely.

Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad thing if the auto dj was only switched on between certain hours, you could call it 'Non stop music' but then again if it was implemented and staff agreed that the auto dj would go on from x to x I reckon you'd get a few moaners who would want to pop on air as they please. Then some others may abuse it and just leave it switched on during prime times. In other words, have a set perm show for the auto dj so those who may want to tune in just for constant chart music with no interruptions, will know the set hours.

Really depends, perhaps if it does go ahead as a trial do a poll for the habboxlive department to vote on as they'll be the ones trying to book up slots.
And hey the chances are it might fail but then again putting it on a two week trial is better than having another 12 of these threads next year. That way instead of saying 'it might fail' we can say 'It was trialed and failed' or for all we know it could be a massive hit nd stun us all!!!

hxl should just stream music, that will solve the radio offline problem
Kardan

It's a tough one... Having it just play music whenever its offline can't be done, because the DJ's just won't do anything...
Having it at low peak could work, but doesn't HxL have 3 groups of DJs? European, American, Australian? So if we have it in off peak hours, wouldn't the Australian group then get away with putting in less hours?
There's advantages and disadvantages on both sides really.

I'm not sure if there are any international djs anymore, I remember a few weeks ago they said they had two or something.

Well, that's a bit crap...I'm sure I read somewhere that they still have groups of DJs... Whats the point of having a group of 2 international DJs? If HxL doesn't have international DJs, and we assume that the majority of DJs are at school/college/uni, then the radio is really only on 3pm-12pm...?

We currently have seven international DJs and we no longer operate in groups within HxL we still have groups for applications as it is an easier system but the actual running of HabboxLive operates as two teams with internationals mixed into the two.
In regards to the whole auto DJ thing there are advantages and disadvantages to it. I don't mind a trial but if the hours are any less than the average or what they are usually in a week I would see it as a tremendous fail. We average between 120-140 hours a week out of 168 which isn't amazing but the majority of hours that aren't done are those that would be covered by international DJs and until we gain more international staff these slots will not be filled as they should be. UK DJs do sometimes do these slots but they are usually exhausted or just stream due to the time.
I will speak to Matt in regards to a trial of an auto DJ and if it fails it fails. We'll just have to wait and see.
Where's the proof that an Auto DJ system will make DJs lazier? I used to DJ on a site which had a great Auto DJ system with a built-in request site so that you could request the songs you want from a database and it'd play them on the site. It still had a ton of people DJing on all the time, the Auto DJ system was purely for the hour gaps between DJs as sometimes that would happen. I say give it a shot instead of shooting down the idea.
EDIT: Just to add it was HotelViewFM where I DJ'd, we had a fair amount of listens most of the time.

For some reason, Habbox management have always had a problem with Auto DJ and I'm not sure why. SAM Broadcaster has a built in request feature like Ryan mentioned above, but then I guess you need a computer on 24/7 to actually do it unless you code a script yourselves.
Threads are always going to come up about HabboxLive because let's face it.. it's dying :P

I assume you DJ'd a little while ago though as DJs a year ago or so had the encouragement of actually getting over ten listeners and back in the days when the listener count seemed low at seventy.
Still, I'm all for this Auto DJ system to have a test run though. We've got nothing to lose.

Getting 50 was a bit of an achievement to be honest, but yeah I did DJ a couple of years ago now. It doesn't change the fact that we never were lazy when the Auto DJ system was in place, and I believe it kept people on the site to listen to decent music (whereas the sound of nothingness really does nothing for HabboxLive).
I think it has improved slightly in terms of listeners 'at times'.
However, I still would like to see at least one big event happening per month and that seems to have lacked. Then I was going to try and defend it and I see it offline at this moment, so I won't bother.

2 have been done by myself this month, and we have big events planned for christmas :p
the auto dj thing comes up alot, and im half and half with it tbh... some stations djs are like 'oh the auto djs on, lets not dj' others are quite good with it :o

Then I would suggest some more promotion such as banners in place and whatnot. Or I might be getting too old and blind :P.

I think I should become a HabboxLive DJ I don't even have to prove myself in a trial I've already shown my skills from HxSS with xxMATTGxx; and Publicised;

I don't even know who you are though? So yes you do.
Either way it will be tested but like I said before if the hours aren't around the average we hit a week then I really wouldn't see it as a success.
