Just thought I'd let you all know I saw Jack Dee, the deadpan legend himself on Friday in Newcastle. He hasn't had a tour in years and been wanting to see him live for years (this was my first time). Apparently he wanted to spend more time away from his family ha.
I know a lot of people seem to find him irritating and some find him too depressing but its what makes him hilarious in my opinion. He came out onto the stage with the whole sold out theatre giving a loud round of applause without even cracking a smile, saying a sarcastic thank you. At the end he even came and played the guitar something which he never has done before to my knowledge on tour or TV.
The other week I caught Michael McIntyre in Newcastle who is quite the opposite, over energetic and camp and while I do find him funny, I'd take Jack Dee's deadpan any day. I think it's a skill being funny while keep the straightest face. I recommend catching him - I think he's on tour for a while still.
