How long do you think Runescape will be available to play? As you can see they really need money...

Kardan

This is actually a good deal, but I'd have to cancel my recurring membership to get this which would then boost my membership price from £3.50 to £5... Unless my recurring membership knows to stop if I buy the package...

And Runescape will be around for a while yet, it's normal for a company to do deals in order to get a few increased sales. Which company doesn't need the money?

yeah as kardan said, this doesn't actually look like a bad deal? If you like all that cosmetic stuff of course :P

I think it's more keeping people in the game, rather than making money. It's a good deal and if someone was to buy 12 months of membership in one go, it'll give them more of a reason not to leave the game.

yeah thats what I thought. imo its more of a 'guarantee' that someone will buy 12 months of membership, rather than one month at a time which can be cancelled at any point.

€64.95?

€64.95 = ~£52.89 so ~£4.41 per month

so if you have the £5 a month sub then might be worthwhile, but same time i'd stick to monthly as I know I cant stand the game for more than a few months at a time :P well not at all since EoC came out.

Looks good, but for one years membership they should give 2M :D

scottish
20-12-2012, 01:50 PM
2m is nothing though :P and just creating gp to randomly give people would mess about with market

Although, it doesn't mention anything about loyalty points. Not that I've ever spent mine, think I have like 75k at the moment. But if someone was to buy this year long thing, do you think they would get the same loyalty points as starting from one month, then getting more for 2 months, then more from 3 months etc? or just get like the 12,500x12 in one go?

they'd get it every month

like atm you can get multiple months (I think I bought 3 or 6 months at a time) and you'd get them start of every month

That is probably better than getting one bulk one at the beginning of your annual subscription IMO.

o Matts; was on phone when read this thread so didn't show the price thing right at the far right side ha ha.

Yea anyway i think this is quite a nice idea but i wouldnt wanna spend that much at once tbh lmao

This isn't bad but this is more than likely because they would rather get £50 for a year than people getting a few months of membership and not having it again.

Theres one other benefit that gold membership package gives, aswell as the silver, and that is Priority Access to any upcoming Closed Beta's that happen next year.

Note, when i say priority I mean they get priority on being picked for the upcoming betas, not that they only get them.

You keep the discounted price even if you don't have a subscription. I subscribe each month and cancel straight away and I've still kept the discount.

As far as I'm bothered, they're needing money. I'm also assuming that they need more users - just seen a runescape advert on tv (idk if they're always on tv, but yeah)

Don't think I'll be buying it as its too much to pay for at once

The RS ads on TV have been showing for a few months now. As for this membership package its not a bad deal, the paladin cosmetic outfit doesnt look too bad: Infact this is what it looks like (Source from RS Wiki):

The 2000 Runecoins isnt bad either if you wish to get another cosmetic or anything else you may want at any time.

win win situation

most people get cheaper membership and some cosmetic stuff and jagex get a huge lump of money upfront so they can start working on bigger projects

runescape is losing all the old players because the EoC update, them nuking the bots, they lose players rapidly because most their memberships are from people buying memberships then getting banned after awhile

edit; wow, they lost ALOT of players, i remember going on runescape everyday seeing 180k plus players every day

I bought it last week, it's a pretty good deal IMO.
It works out at about £45. I only paid £3.50 a month so it was slightly more expensive for the year (£3 to be exact), but considering all the bonus stuff you get, I thought it was worth it.

Nah, I bought a year of Rift and I don't play it anymore... Jagex are just desperate for money. They ruined 2 good games in 2012 Runescape and Ace of Spades... to hell with them. MOD MMG killed Rrunescape with his "THIS WILL MAKE RS BETTER" BULLCRAP!

Yes, Runescape lost the majority of their veteran players. And when your old friends quit... you quit too. So not everyone quits just because of the update :P I had played Runescape for over 10 years and the update... Made me and Inkwell come back to habbo LOL.

Indeed :)

Every game has to change right? Look at Habbo, they have merged and Runescape has done a huge update which is way better now :) We can't always stay in the old RS :P I totally agree with you on this Ice!! + Rep
