It actually looks remarkably good and is scoring highly on IMDB. Also the trailer is AWESOMELY WELL DONE, in terms of lighting, pacing music etc. it leaves me with a fairly good impression for the film itself. I think it came out yesterday or something in the UK.
Anyone planning on seeing it?

Looks good and all but I don't think it will be the next avatar.
Has anyone watched it yet?
I'm intrigued as to how good/bad it is
I was going to see it tonight but because it's quite long I wouldn't have had enough time and would have been late to my aunties christmas party. Can't wait to see it though. :)

I've seen it honestly it's such a waste of money, I have no idea how it's been nominated for awards when it shows bascially a man on a tiny boat with a tiger for like an hour. It was the most boring film I've watched could have slept through it, trailer shows the only decent bits which in total last around 10mins

Why do you think it's so awful? A point of a film isn't to make you JUMP neither is it to have great 3D effects! I usually go and see movies in 2D anyway because it's a waste of money for 3D (well that and there's no 3D screens in aber) so it doesn't even matter to me. If you're going to refer to your previous post in this thread then that's also a moot point as the whole plot of the book, and subsequent movie, is meant to be isolated and with not much going on. If you'd read the book, or even a summary of it (or EVEN a the subtitle of the film) you'd have realised it was about 1 boy lost, alone at sea. It's an incredibly moving and inspiring story, and THAT'S why I want to go and see it.

i saw it on christmas eve, i thought it was really good like it was all computer generated and stuff but looked really life like. it may seem like it drags on for ages but that's the whole story after all - about a boy stranded on a boat. i personally think its really good and inspiring (but maybe that's cos i'm boring) and you should go watch it if you are interested in seeing it. my mum started crying when she thought the tiger was going to die, so you might find it quite moving/inspirational idk. i'm going to read the book, as many people say the book is better than the film. :)

i heard it was really good
i want to read it before i watch it though
so gonna wait it out
I really enjoyed it! The 3D was really superb and the story is moving. The acting is really great as well, and I really loved the scenes in India.
I want to see it, but I don't think i'll enjoy it. IF YA GET ME.
I think as a film it'll be brilliant with amazing camera work and sound etc, but as a plot it doesn't sound very entertaining for my opinion!

It looked good on the trailer but my boyfriend told me something about it which was rubbish so I steered away from seeing it.

I found it boring but funny, though I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be comedy um yeah, 3D effects were good but I got bored and just took the glasses off. Got better towards last half an hour though, found the first half bad

I saw it, as well as read the book, have an intense love-hate relationship with it, but I think Andii; completely missed the point of what the movie was about.

Well said! It's an extremely interesting book and back-story that can be extremely confusing (I had to read most parts of the book at least twice) but the whole thing can be so good! I'm waiting for the DVD as I don't really have the time to go to the cinema any more :(

I struggled to get through most of it because it was a bit dry and confusing, but once part three came around and I read it, I became so furious and it all clicked into place, and just... I don't think another book has ever made me so upset before. Like, I literally questioned my life, and I didn't even trust another book after that. I felt, when reading something, it's only proper to assume what you've read so far is what's happened, right? It's law, canon in whatever universe the story is set in. But then, bam! Plot twist. I was extremely conflicted, and felt utterly betrayed.

I didn't mind the movie but why are they making movies like this? Another movie was called The book of eli..

The first bit was soo slow, I thought I was going to hate it! But part of me just thought, there's interesting words and stuff, it could pick up, and even after it became so incredulous I still wanted to see what happened and it's just SO COOL that Martel was able to do that. Really evokes some strong emotions - an author able to betray someone (I totally agree in that's what he does) is a pretty awesome talent to have!

Because it's one of the bestselling modern books which a lot of people enjoy and would like to see made into a movie - especially considering the story behind it is so interesting and poignant to film and show!
We went to watch it yesterday and tbh the advert is quite misleading IMO. When i watched the trailer i assumed the boy on the boat would become real friendly with the tiger and it would end in a nice way. (a nice movie for say little kids) But the truth is that the movie has underlying morals and messages that not only could other members of my family not grasp, but took myself a while to get around too. I think it was a good movie and at some points got quite confusing. It does take a while to actually get somewhere though (was slow at the beginning). Also the ending is rather confusing too but is crucial in understanding to why certain events ended the way they did. Once you've seen it once, you may want to see it again to actually understand the story. I'd rate is a 6 out of 10 =/ However the book apparently explains the story a lot better then what the movie did.

I didn't really understand Part 1 until I read Part 3, and then I questioned myself if I was Mr Kumar or Mr Kumar.
That's one of my biggest complaints about the movie, that they didn't add those two plots.
