I think that we should be able to play songs with expletives. At least between watershed or something. Or have a warning on the habboxlive screen before the radio plays saying something like; "This show may contain expletives and offensive words, if you are easily offended check back later for a different show" with a decision like "continue" and "close".

Can't really because it's an international radio station meaning where one place is after watershed another is not.

Then put a warning box when Habbox loads up. @Jordan

Inseriousity.

You don't need to use swearing to entertain people.

I don't see why we need to play songs with swearing on a radio. It doesn't make a song sound better and most songs nowadays come with a non explicit version anyway or a DJ can always edit out the swearing for you.

I don't see the purpose in this anyway. Anyone on the internet is almost guarantee to see swearing without stars or in short so does it really matter if they hear it? Not really. Habbox shouldn't have to put a warning box because I bet most of the people who tune in swear anyway.

Even with this rule I hear swearing on the radio everyday and tbh no one complains. Also like Jordan; said, do songs even need to swear? No, because the clean version are just as good but even if they do, does it matter? It's like 10 seconds of an 3 minute song... no biggie.

Most DJs edit nowadays or get the clean versions so there is no need to have the swearing versions. We have talked about this already countless times and with the site being international it simply cannot happen in regards to the watershed idea.

Do they? I don't really know more then 2 DJs at Habbox who do this but thats because I'm anti-social lol. Some songs have swear words in the whole way and without them it ruins the song. Also Habbox is for teenagers and if they cant even listen/play a swear word then you can't expect them to be mature. (i'ma hypocrite lol)

Swearing isn't a matter of maturity at all? I have cleaned songs for DJs many times before as has many others before me and some current DJs to. People know that in the rules it is stated the songs they can't play so they shouldn't be playing them and as far as I'm aware most DJs make sure they don't.

But it seems like it because there not allowed to hear it but older people do? If you get me... to me as a noob it is anyways. :p

Imagine **** You by Lily Allen without swearing. Its the same song but it removes the comedy and feeling... :)

You think comedy is made by swearing in songs? Buy a Nicki Minaj CD and come back to me.

I don't even swear and I'm mature, don't really see how on Earth you become more mature if you listen to swear words? Surely you're more mature if you don't. I mean, songs shouldn't even need to swear, I know Payphone sounds better without it.

To younger people it seems that older people can and older people are meant to be mature. Comedy in some songs is swearing and the reason there funny to me personally.

Samanfa; tbh I think the point he's trying to get across tho is that a mature person isn't very bothered by mild swearing.

In my opinion though swearing shouldn't be allowed on the music on the radio, as we need to encourage newer younger members to habbox anyway and having that sort of thing on the radio is not great. I personally would like to see mild swearing not removed but I feel that it is probably better anyway, though it can remove the feeling of some certain music, especially from artists like amy winehouse, but a few artists really isn't enough for a change of rules tbh and really it shouldnt be allowed to have the swear words uncensored.

I swear it was suggested once by Jin that we should put a watershed on HabboxLive. Although I think this was on in a general chat on MSN and we never went through with it. Do radio's in the UK have a watershed like the television does? Never actually looked into that. Not that it changes anything in regards of Hx.

The watershed idea wouldn't really work cause of all the different time-zones that are tuned in though to be honest...

True even if Habbox doesn't have a big international side and is mainly UK/Europe. Then it's our good friends from the United States.

I thought we couldn't swear on air or play explicit songs because we are official and maybe sulake have a rule about that. But I don't really mind if we can't swear because most songs come with clean versions

I'm sure this has been put up for discussion many a times. They all come up with the same verdict: we're international, we can't have a watershed.

As much as I want this, due to the radio being listened to people from all different parts of the world then the watershed would not work.

Sorry to but in and be nooby but err what's a watershed? Is it like a watermark but on the radio?

Basically before a watershed swear words are censored, after it they aren't.

So like on the tv as well before 9pm swear words are censored after they ain't.

It's probably habbo itself doesn't want swearing in songs. Probably their rules for fan site radio sites.
I don't have any problems with swearing in songs but if management, habbo etc don't want us to play songs that is explicit then we should not play it.

Maybe it could be a limit? If I remember correctly Foregetfuhl; might tell me otherwise but songs are allowed to say ***** on the radio? I'm not sure if I can say the word. So maybe if it swears such as Katy Perry's Hot 'n' Cold swears once that could be ok (and it's not really singling anyone out) as opposed to Nicki Minaj's song lyrics which would probably just blank every other word :P?

Doesn't make a difference to a song as the majority of artists make a clean version anyway... Can we make a list of topics that are banned from discussing in feedback as its the same outcome each year this thread is posted lol.

Oli proposed this in 2011 when he was GM and keen for it.

I wouldn't personally mind and I get what people say when songs are ruined with too much censorship. But, there are plenty of clean versions out there and I just avoid songs that get ruined by censoring the swearing.

Sure, it's life nowadays. But I'd like to think that the radio would be a good role model for people and there are plenty of other ways to make a show engaging than ******* and ****ing everywhere. I would have issue if for every tiny word there would have been an instant warning, but the warning system has been reformed as far as I can recall, and has become much more sensible.

Also, the watershed concept is ridiculous. The minimum age that people should tune in is 12 (or 11, whatever the Habbo minimum age is) and I doubt a 12 year old will go to bed at 9. Or maybe I'm too old to remember :(. Plus internationals, which HxL has seemed to have gone 5 steps back. It would be great to get some more activity in that area.

13 is the minimum age for Habbo.

Must have had a compromise when they merged then :P. Yeh, the watershed on TV is supposed to protect younger kids, although no one is sheltered in this world anymore! Heard a kindergarten kid say **** the other week.
