Following a frenzy of Internet activity — and some confusion — it appears that Adobe isn’t giving away free copies of Adobe CS2. You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!

It is free, it's been posted on Engadget, Ars Technica and a few other tech websites.

In Adobe's forums, Adobe employee Don Isaacs says on behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated that "You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!"

What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don't require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available. (Special serial numbers are provided on the page for each product download.) See Adobe forums.

You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!

Basically free then :P If it doesn't require activation then it's as good as free. It seems the wording suggests you could just chuck any odd number in the serial number section and it would accept it.

Here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1woD1x4CzokSxRsTaNU4K0nH7n0GAUSkXmwyfWAjLXu0/edit) is a link for a google docs page with download links and serial codes for each of the CS2 software.

This. Adobe have a habit of turning a blind eye on learners and amateurs using their software for free as it means they might pay for the software down the line if they then work for a business. Adobe don't officially endorse it to prevent small businesses from avoiding paying their costs.

this could be because they're giving the people/customer that want to try out the product before they buy the upgrade for it

as in fact they do have other higher upgrades, thanks for the post

that's what demo's are for tbh, so i don't think that's the reason
