View Full Version : Ignore threads/forums on search.php

We all have threads and forums we don't read, and personally I was sick of seeing them on new posts so did some searching and came across this mod ; http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=272375
summed up in 2 quotes, it does;
I settled for a system that marked selected threads and forums as read just before the search so they don't show in New Posts. It does not change Today's Posts or the listings in the forums.
But anyway here's what I have: You can use Thread Tools to add threads to your Thread Ignore list and Forum Tools to add forums. You can unignore either in Thread or Forum Tools or deselect them in Settings (User CP)
[4:31:25 PM] David: any chance of this lol ? http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=272375

[4:38:24 PM] mattGARNER //: Looks interesting, probably worth a feedback thread
Thoughts? Probably won't get installed but worth a try.
Sounds like a good plugin, probably best if I wouldn't use it due to moderation but I would in any other capacity value this :)

Why not? If people don't wish to use it, then they can just carry on like normal. I'd support this :)
Would be nice not having to sift through threads you really can't be bothered about.

I think this sounds like a good idea :D. I never use New Posts because of all the threads I don't care about :P.

for example will remove forum #124 which is something to do with habbo

This would be able to remove specific threads from New Posts, which I don't think can be done right now...

Correct, and it does work as &include and &exclude is built into vBulletin search afaik.
However it definitely does work as I tested it before posting :P

The template changes weren't liked by vBulletin so it's on hold at the moment.

Sounds like a good idea but I probably wouldnt use it as a thread could be posted in a forum you don't usually go in yet you could answer/reply and help the op etc. however, I do think it will come in handy for some.

so you'd hide one thread? does it really bother you that much seeing it there?

Yes. It aggravates me that such a terrible thread gets such a high proportion of the entire forum's posts and that the number of posts suddenly LEAPS because it gets post counting again.

Is there any update on this
p.s mods this isn't breaking the rules as "Do not pointlessly bump old threads. You may only bump threads if your post is relevant and something that can generate more discussion. What is and isn't pointless is up to the moderators discretion and is final." this is relevant and can generate more discussion into the future of its implementation
