Just curious how people get there teeth so white? I know some people have different methods, some actually use fruit, others use products. I want recommendations on some things before buying them, I don't want to apply some product to my teeth then wake up TOOTHLESS. I brush my teeth twice a day, not sure if that isn't enough but I've been doing that for as long as I can remember. My teeth aren't yellow but they aren't that nice bright white, which i really want. Any ideas?

Bright white teeth aren't natural at all, but if you want whiter teeth, buy whitening toothpaste (Colgate's one is pretty good and not that expensive) and chew whitening gum. The best way is to get them laser cleaned but that's extortionate or use the gel stuff but I always see that as a bit dodgy (reminds me of Ross in friends hahah)

Ask Samm; He has like the nicest teeth ever :o Don't bother with the laser whitening. I had it done, its only slightly noticeable.

I've used pearl drops toothpaste before and that does seem to make some difference. Looks like this if you want to find it in shops: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_MApfKxq9mRc/TF-ibDDWxfI/AAAAAAAAAxY/7sc9BVt9p9c/s1600/pearl+drops.jpg

There's no way they're that white just cause he doesn't eat chocolate :P

That's what I said but I suppose it must have a little impact because people eat so much chocolate these days and don't even understand what they're doing to themselves ;////

My teeth aren't really bright white, well three of my teeth aren't mine anyway so hence they're stright and white. My science teacher told us your teeth aren't meant to be fully white as it's not healthy. I would suggest whitening toothpaste though :) x.

Interesting topic. I'll never have perfectly white teeth because of how much coffee I drink, but my wife is a dental assistant - I'll see if I can get some advice from her about what would be the best way to go about it.

I have perectly white teeth.. I brush with Crest 3D white toothpaste and I use whitening strips every so many months.. I can only use like 1-2 strips because they make my teeth very sensitive so a whole kit lasts me like 2 years.. I smoke, drink coffee and drink wine. My teeth should be black lol

Personally I think 'whitening' toothpastes are complete crap (colgate etc). On the one hand you have these toothpastes which claim to whiten your teeth which produce questionable results and on the other you have products designed solely for whitening teeth which have extremely noticeable results. I can only go on my own experience but toothpastes have done nothing for whitening my teeth and I only drink water; no fizzy drinks, tea, coffee, wine or nicotine so I can't see a toothpaste alone offsetting those things.
Crest strips are effective as people have said but the most effective stuff will be what your dentist can offer you. Might as well just ask the next time you're in for a check-up as you're not obliged to buy anything they offer; they're simply the most qualified people to inform you about it. AFAIK they offer a thing where they fit you for a gumshield and basically you wear the gumshield for X amount of minutes while you're at home while it has some kind of peroxide solution in it. The advantage being that where something like Crest strips might not cover every inch of your teeth due to the shape of the strip and your teeth, a molded gumshield will fit your teeth exactly and you'll get full coverage (I think).

You're completely right. All toothpaste sold in the stores that aren't prescription have the exact same active ingredient, at the exact same percentage. That $5 bottle you buy because it says 'whitening' is no different at all than the $1 version next to it. Some have baking soda in them, but the whitening ability is trivial, and it tastes pretty bad too.
I pay about $15 a bottle for my toothpaste, but I'm prone to cavities and have a prescription for Clinpro 5000. That price is after my wife's discount through work, so it's probably a bit more expensive - the only difference is that is has a much higher concentration of fluoride. No toothpaste will make your teeth whiter, and anything that's available over the counter isn't going to help you very much either (strips, etc).
She works for a corporate office, and they once had someone come in a few years ago to another one of their locations who literally put diluted bleach underneath their night guard before bed. (In case there was any question, don't actually do that).

when i got my braces off my teeth were disgustingly yellow, so i had them bleached from the dentist, it was done from an instrument which emitted light. it was not laser because the dentist said so, and it took like 15 minutes

That's because you're black, black people always have awesome white teeth.
My aunty bought a whitening kit for my cousin at christmas. You got the gel and a mouthguard. I think it was like £40 but I will ask her the name of it. If you go to the dentist they make you a custom fit guard but it can cost hundreds.

Well, according to her, over the counter white strips are your best bet if you don't want to see a dentist. They're not nearly as effective as getting a professional treatment, but the cost difference is significant. A home remedy she's seen success with is baking soda and peroxide - brushing first with your normal toothpaste, then mixing about a teaspoon of baking soda and 2-3 drops of hydrogen peroxide (5% by weight) into a paste and using it as a toothpaste for an additional two minutes before bed.

I tried teeth whitening tooth paste - Didn't work.
I then went onto laser teeth whitening - Initial first look they looked patchy white and was noticeable but was ok, but cause I drink too much tea (6 cups a day) didn't take long for them to go back to normal.
Crest White Strips - Tried and given up on them, they do make my teeth ache after awhile.
If you want nice white teeth vaneers are you option. I want these but they cost way too much maybe around 250 per tooth. So around 5k for a the front both top and bottom with the vaneers on the 'viewable' teeth.
Vaneers example:

Alot of it depends on what you eat... Drinking tea/coffee, red wine or other coloured food/drink can have a big effect. Laser teeth whitening is cheap now... Well around £90 for an hours session which whitens your teeth for 6 months - 1 year depending on if you drink tea/coloured products thereafter and how often. I've had it done as my ex's parents had their own business, although my teeth were pretty white before. I got it free, but I would have paid their price of £90 for it if I had to. So many people do laser teeth whitening so much cheaper now. It used to cost around £300 a session.

What I do to keep my teeth white (obviously my caffeine allergy helps because of no chocolate, coffee, tea etc)
Brush in the morning, Oral-B 3D White toothpaste is a good fairly priced toothpaste.
At the end of brushing your teeth, squish water in your mouth and spit to get rid of any yucky bits but don't wash your toothbrush yet. After rinsing your mouth, gently brush all over your teeth then leave it. A little bit over your teeth isn't disgusting in the mouth but it adds a protective layer over your teeth for the day.
Eat, drink whatever. If you have loads of coffee/sweets etc then try brush as soon as you've had them. If it's not loads then don't worry. Chew Wrigley's Extra gum after eating staining foods and drinks. Don't chew 24/7 as this kills enamel and your teeth will be destroyed.
Rinse your mouth out with water during the day if you can and then at night floss and brush. Again doing the same method leaving some toothpaste covering on your teeth as this will help over night.
Good luck <3
P.S I think I am very fortunate to have good teeth and sometimes is just pure luck!

Your teeth are awesome.
Could be a lot to this caffeine allergy. I drink a lot of tea all day everyday at work and I've never managed to get my teeth very white. I brush twice a day with sensadine pronamel. (bet I've spelt that wrong)...
Tea and coffee seem to be a big problem when trying to keep your teeth white. Stay away!
You could always do what Richard Hamond does ;) teeth whitining! That's the secret for celebs im sure. :)

You can use a variety of methods to whiten teeth including whitening toothpaste, trays, strips and pens. If none of these methods work, then you can have your teeth whitened at the dentist's office.
