I think people could go on forever with the whole Mac/PC argument. In the end it comes down to personal preference I guess... Like you said £1500 is such a lot of money to pay out for one and for that amount of money you could buy/build yourself a machine with 10x better specs, you could even run OS X alongside it but that's going down the hackintosh route and can be a hassle especially if you're new to it all. Like I said though, it boils down to personal preference so nobody can decide for you.

If it was me personally, I'd build a beast of a machine with that money.

It will be used for general use and also running CAD / PS, those sort of programs. I really like the design and the OS but building my own computer would be hassle as all I've ever done to a PC before is put in a PCI card lol.

In my view I would actually build a computer as I know I would get more for my money and get more performance than spending it on an iMac. If you haven't already, go and look at them in an Apple Store and see if they are something you would really want.

That argument is invalid. If it looks **** how you're doing it on a Windows PC, it will look the same on OS X. It's you, not the computer.

I disagree. I also do all kinds of digital art and the reason why Macs are best for photo and digital editing is because Macs have a higher resolution display, a better graphics card, and a better processor. Also, having the right printer can influence the outcome to my photos and designs.

When I took digital art and photo classes, we used Macs for our projects. There wasn't a single PC in the room. That's why I feel that doing digital art and photos on a Mac makes the projects look better.

So you are using software that works on the Windows operating system as well. You could even say it runs better on Windows as well - No advantages of using Adobe Photoshop CS6 on a Mac. Not trying to start a PC vs Mac argument but these comments just make me laugh, no offence.

I got my first mac, which is an iMac, just under a month ago, and love it. Much better than the PC/laptop I had before, and I can still use Windows when I need to which is a huge bonus. I'd definitely recommend one, but the obvious potential problem is the price :P.

I have a 21.5 inch iMac. Never had any problems since I bought it. I payed £1000 for it plus Microsoft word etc...
If you have any questions, deffo go to your nearest Apple Store and talk to them. They are so helpful and one of the best customer supports in my opinion!

Hahahaha. Are you kidding me? Better graphics card and processor? ********. Better screen, yes, however i'm sure you can buy monitors which match. But you can build a much better PC for half the price, so don't go telling me the specifications are better. Quit while you're ahead.

Better than the £1500 imac for £400 cheaper, sure the screen is fat but obviously you've got £400 spare to get a thinner one
