View Full Version : [Vote] Forum Userbars Poll
Chris
24-01-2013, 06:12 PM
As the previous poll for this ended in a tie (typical), we're going to do one final poll between the two most popular. This will be the LAST poll regarding the userbars so make your vote count. Any people who cheat will have their vote removed. Any people who try to influence the results by offering rep, vip or anything else in return will also have their vote removed.

I'm really not fussed about which one wins. I could have easily turned around and gone with Daves design but I've decided to do a second poll instead to let the community decide.

Didn't the first poll let the community decide though :P? When I read the other thread earlier I read that there'd be no more polls and that David's userbars had won because of multiple-voting for the old ones. But anyway, voted David's again :P.

Another poll stinks of bad management - I've heard everything now. You should be happy that you are even being give the chance of voting in another poll. We could have just gone with the other one. We decided it would be best to give you another poll with these two results to declare a winner due to the situation that occurred.

I'm glad that there's another poll to be honest, because if the original poll was tied, then this is the best way forward.

a situation regarding a poll on a fansite?

It's probably best they don't tell us what is going on, because everytime something goes wrong, the whole forum just moans at management :P
I'm still assuming that they discovered a multiple voter for David's option (or they discovered the multiple voter for the original option wasn't a multiple voter).
And it makes sense that management wouldn't tell us if either of those were true. If they discovered a multiple voter for David's option, we would have a go at management for originally only checking one option and not the other. If they discovered the multiple voter wasn't a multiple voter for the other option, we would have a go at management for making a mistake.
Either way, it's better this way :P

They are hidden so it doesn't influence the vote. But that shouldn't matter to you as it's just a fansite and these polls don't affect you like they affect other people.

Where did I call them sheep? It's like threads where people will +rep you if you vote for a certain option. It some what ruins the poll and people should choose the design they personally like - Not what anyone else thinks. Same applies with the results being shown while the poll is open - Plus, why do you need to know the results when it's open?

I'm not sure if this is the correct version or whatever, but this version allows you to keep the 'Hide forever' option that you guys love to use right now, and adds the 'Reveal results after close' option that we would all prefer...

And does this mean that this poll will now show results at the end, or can that no longer be changed now that it's been set up?

I think you're getting confused. The poll can be made to always hide results when open and closed - It can also be made so results show when the poll closes. This setting can be changed if the poll has been posted already.

Ahh, I see. So basically, as long as management know that in polls that decide outcomes, they should reveal the votes at the end :P And that's good, it means we'll see the results of this poll and nobody can go off about management fixing the result :P

People probably would ruin it if they could see it after they voted, but allowing people to see after the poll closes is perfect to be honest. Just a shame it wasn't used in the previous poll...
xxMATTGxx; If the option to show the results after closing can be edited, does that mean you could edit the setting after a poll has closed. So in other words, could you enable the previous poll so we can see the results?

This is the makings of a George Orwell novel. The obvious solution is to make it public and show who voted for what whilst using a third party service so that those people can verify what they voted for.

I don't see people complaining about that these days either! Ah got to love the forum eh
Just because people don't complain doesn't mean they don't care. I actually do still care about reputation being changed as it made it far more difficult for people who joined later to accrue reputation.

Fair enough but no point going on about it as we know it won't be changed again. You just get used to it and deal with it - Like with anything else in life.

Hold on... so everyone had large time-consuming arguments, big debates, numerous polls simply to return to where we started?
This is a good lesson on touching things that aren't broken. It's like myself deciding to rebuild a new and fully functioning road because I feel like it.
