Sounds like a total waste of time. They're trying to teach grandmother to suck eggs with this but I suppose they have to show they have fansites (despite the fact they really do not care about them or their community).

Habbox got the email and will be attending. So give me a wave if anyone else goes :P

You're so negative :P - Only wastes time of the staff but hey ho they are getting paid for it. The people who are attending from fansites would most likely be on Habbo at that time anyway.

Proof is in the pudding, their track record these past 4 years is evidence enough :P They're dictating what you should do with your fansite(s), which to me seems highly offensive :P They do not appear to want to listen to the concerns of fansites, so don't expect to ask many questions (and if they ask for some they will no doubt ignore them). If it was a way for fansites to voice their concerns to Habbo then all well and good, but to "pool some killer ideas" from the company that things paedophilia and a lack of security is a great idea? I'd be concerned :P

I'm not saying anything will change but anything is better than nothing. No point not going altogether - If one of us is on at that time then we may as well attend to see what's cracking. I'll most likely post up a summary in this thread or even record it to if people want to see what's been said.

In terms of the "pool some killer ideas" - Isn't that just a saying? I think the ideas is coming from fansites and not Habbo themselves.

If it's coming from fansites then what's the purpose of the event when you're bringing these ideas to it? It would be like bringing cakes to a Cake Bakers' Summit. Everyone there knows what a cake looks like. This just seems like one of those waste-of-time Habbo PR stunts that look good, but do sod all in the long-term :P

So you don't like Habbo telling us how we should run our fansites and nor do you like fansites telling Habbo what they should do to help us. Maybe I should bring you to the summit, they'll love you for sure.

Love the grammar that Habbo types out.
They've given a date and a time. But where exactly do we have to go?
I'll probably go, just to check it out. No doubt it'll be damn laggy there.

Yes to the former (it's insulting), no to the latter (feedback is good) - there's no evidence that they're there to listen to fansites, just to get them sat together (hence a summit). Besides, when have Habbo ever listened? The entire franchise has been sinking in a cesspit of their own creation because of their closed ears for years now (C4, dropping numbers of users etc). You could, but I've not signed in since 2009 and do not intend to do so :P

Yes and I'm aware of Habbo saying this that and the other and not actually doing it. But not going altogether would be stupid for Habbox - Even if we just go there and not say one single word.

Never said you shouldn't. Just stating what seems to obvious these days with Habbo - wasteful PR stunt that's not going to do anything for the long-term :P A waste of time doesn't instantly mean you shouldn't go ;)

Note to UNOFFICIAL Fansites:

We’ll be reopening the process of becoming an official Habbo fansite on http://www.habbo.com/community/fansites early next week, so feel free to pass this information on to any fansite owners you know may be interested. We’re also looking to adding more benefits to the official fansite status. More to come on that one!

Nope - It's pretty much aimed at the owners or top management of that fansite. Otherwise the room would be full of a specific fansite. So say if it was open to everyone we could have like 10 Habbox Staff members for example. Discussions wouldn't be manageable - So there is a limit of 2 people max per fansite.

I agree with this. I doubt Sulake have any long-term commitment to the promotion of fansites and this is probably going to be a 'rare' occurrence.

They have kept links 'unclickable' (either for the best or worst, w.e. your take is on it) and axed the decent 'official fansite' system which worked quite well. Not to mention the fact that full-length news articles on the homepage no longer exist, so trying to put enough detail for fansites' events is going to be a challenge.

There's always a small chance they're trying to improve though :P?

It hasn't been mentioned and the summit hasn't started yet but I just went on the fansites page at: http://www.habbo.com/community/fansites and noticed the following:

NOTE: We've just reopened the process of adding to this list of official Habbo fansite. Benefits of being official include Official Habbo Fansite badges for up to 3 Fansite admins, hosting events and competitions on Habbo with Staff support, ingame staff promotion of Fansite activities, manning the official Habbo helpdesk and lots more.

That seems new.

Summary

These were the main pointers that was mentioned, there was some other stuff said but this was the main stuff that seems to be happening.

Wanted to know ways of getting a better profile on Habbo.com

They want to be able to help us advertise and promote our games and events on the client. They want us to be more visible on Habbo.

Events and Games

- During Valentines, events all week promotion.
- Rota on normal weeks between fansites.
- Tab on the navigator with fansite events in (for the promotion)
- Design own badges for prizes (For the events promotion)
- Might be able to ask Furni for specific events that they would then hand out/give.
- Design promo article images for advertisement (The big image on Habbo.com)
- Design the navigator images for the promoted room(s)

Suggestions that were liked by powertoo - May or may not happen:

- A type of calendar that fansites can use to publish events.
- A better page for "Fansites" or more of a group page like they did with the room builders.

- Each fansite having a room promoting the fansite in the "Public" rooms tab or something on the lines of that.
- Newsletter of some sort

Help Desk

- There will be a Habbo Help Desk, it's going to be recreated and owned by powertoo
- Fansites will be able to take turns each work to manage/man the Help Desk with our own Habbox Staff (Rota)

Other

- There will be a monthly meeting between the fansites with Powertoo. Will happen on the last Friday of each month.
- Can Email Powertoo with our own suggestions and talk about ideas in regards of Fansites, events, prizes etc.
- An Official Fansite Room which will contain a banner for promoting fansites.
- Fansites joining together to host events now and again

Pretty sure every one of those ideas has been done before at some time or other, they didn't work then and they probably wont work now.

P.S. I just want to add that now fansite staff will be given a chance to work in the habbo help desk, I bet Red changes her mind and stops saying it is elitism and favoritism. lol

Don't think Habbo staff need to give prizes, contradicts the funding we have and and we ask for with some roles. The Help Desk, just use the Welcome Lounge, nothing else on that matter is needed.

I don't like the idea of giving fansites more power. Fansites are run by users who care just as much about this game as other users. They might exploit some of these new responsibilities to their own advantage. Not liking it.

This is very true, but weirdly enough it is those very fansite users who often complain when other habbos are given even the smallest amount of responsibility.

you're generalising. it's not just fansite users that don't like the idea of giving small groups 'responsibility' (if you can even call it that), it's just that those are the only opinions that are publicly aired.

I am not generalising, that is what people say on this and other forums.

Let's not pretend fansites have not done exactly as jorsian suggests in the past, because they have - including this one. I do not object to fansites having this responsibility/power (for lack of a better word) - but they must be willing to share it with other habbos (this means accepting a help desk and not moaning when a room builder does an event). In their own way fansites are just as prone to elitism and favoritism as anything else.

Which responsibilities are you referring to? And remember that this is only for official fansites, and not just any fansite, plus if a fansite starting 'exploiting some of these new responsibilities' then surely they'd just have their official fansite status removed.

Mr.L.Darragh
10-02-2013, 10:22 AM
Seems most people have a negative view on this...

I can't really give a balanced view myself, but I've got to agree with Mr-Trainor. It's only official fansites that get these 'responsibilities'. If an official fansite is caught abusing them, their official status will be removed, personally I don't think it's worth the risk.
