Part 2: You will now take part in a game of chess against an easy computer component. Each number corresponds to a white piece of the chessboard. Any player may move as long as they make a legal move. Every legal move that is made will be inputted into the gaming program and then the computer will make a move with one of their black pieces. If you manage to win the game, 10 days of VIP will be added to the prize pot. If you lose the game, any pieces remaining on the board will win an exemption from tomorrow’s execution quiz. If the game ends in a stalemate or is not finished by the end of the task, no prizes will be awarded.

To move your piece simply state, in bold, which square on the board you would like to move to, for example; F4. You may only move your own piece. We will try to provide an image of the updated game move after each full turn (white and black both moving apiece each). However, if there is a lot of play at once we will group turns together in one diagram. This means you can submit many moves in a row between you, but you will not know the new positions of the black pieces, so that may not be a good idea.

To clarify, an exemption is immunity from tomorrow’s execution quiz. This means you do not need to submit an execution quiz and will advance to the next round.

I think we can move whenever we wish - i.e. we don't have to wait for everyone to go until we can go again.

This is correct, any player can move their own piece whenever they wish. All valid moves will be accepted.

I'm trying to get chels to move 1 space forward, and then hope that the computer is silly enough (:rolleyes:) to try and move the horse that is on e4 closer to the white pieces. That knight on e4 can only go to 7 possible places and (if chels moves) 4 of those places will result in it being eliminated, 2 of those places will require it to go further away from the white pieces and that 1 remaining spot would lead to it being eliminated in 2 rounds instead of one.

The other knight that is h6 cannot move without being eliminated next round and no other piece could do any major damage except for that one bishop at c8

Tom stop ruining the fun. I said that meaning regardless of whether I am or not, I'm not telling you. That's not how you play the game, and you trying to play it this way not only takes the fun away but invalidates the incredible amounts of effort Kardan and Charlz have put in. Fair enough if you want to believe I'm the mole, but you seem very keen at pointing the finger at others.

It's possible for us to lose the game in two moves and save most of the people, it'll kill you and Rosie though. Basically if you move to E3 their queen will take you, putting us in check again, then Rosie moves to E2 and their queen takes her, causing checkmate and saving 11 of us from execution. There's literally no way we can win this so I'd say it's our best bet but up to you lot I guess

Yeah but Tara decided it would be a good idea to run right up to the front as the first thing we do, and then the other pawns managed to completely fail to keep any defensive shape and Warren got them killed. Would have needed everyone online and willing to pitch in to win
