Well it seems Apple isn't the most expensive phone now as Vertu have launched a new Android based phone costing a whopping £14,000.

Vertu used be wholly owned by Nokia and made expensive phones using Symbian but like Nokia themselves have moved to something else, Vertu deciding Android had more options for its customers.

The new phone is made of apparently top end materials and only a diamond can actually scratch it's screen. It is also put together by hand with each phone getting the actual name of the person who put it together etched inside (near the sim card slot I think).

It also has a concierge button that when pressed brings up local support but I've not seen any mentions of actual locations its supports.

Something I certainly wouldn't buy considering I find the iPhone too expensive.

Eww its ugly as anything. If your going to make a really expensive phone, at least make it appealing to the eyes!

"The 3.7” screen can only be scratched by diamonds."

Worth it just for that.

I don't really see the point of it, too expensive and it's not that appealing.

To me, it looks like if you have that then it stands out *for being ugly* which will make people notice your stupidly expensive phone.

For show offs, basically.

I guess it's more a prestigious symbol than anything.

I guess people don't realise this isn't for the average joe :P

On the actual phone, I actually like it.

I think the phone looks nice... It's actually got features unlike modern day phones. We've all come to see iPhones and Galaxy phones as design perfection when in reality they're just blank shapes which aren't actually that amazing to look at.

As for the cost, it's a bit weird seeing as those who are not the "Average Joe" are the ones who change their phones and other items (e.g. cars, clothes etc) every 5 minutes, so this phone doesn't quite have a market :/

Interestingly, 100g of Titanium costs roughly $650 so you can start painting a picture of the cost of the phone, and then you have the screen which, as far as crystal sapphire prices go, can cost between $420 to about $600 on average per 100g. Then you have labour costs etc. Not sure how long it takes to put each phone together though :/

What is so special LOL?

Only diamonds can scratch the screen and it's hand made. Not really extra special, and certainly not worth that pricetag. Also, it's pretty ugly.

If you can afford a phone like that then good luck to you but I dont know anyone that would spend £14000 on one! :P

I don't like it, and it's far too expensive. I wouldn't spend more than £100 on a phone. :P

Absolute rip off, is the hardware as good as Nexus?

I've never even heard of Vertu before tbh.

I'm not a fan of how it looks either (jumping on the bandwagon here) but I think it is worth it due to the plain fact that it's near impossible to scratch and incredibly hard to break. I agree though, it is really for people who have money to throw around and wish to show off I guess.
