Basically Recursion;'s girlfriend has signed up to the forum and Tom thought it would be a good idea to give her everything that account currently has. No idea why but they both find it funny.

There's other people that can change it back, and it doesn't seem to take that long to do so and so I don't see why it hasn't all been changed back already seeing as it's unfair on the rest of the forum - Habbo fansite or not.
@Recursion (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=13064); now has negative rep - 'off the scale' :P.
Have to agree, this whole thing just shows that if your dating people in charge you get more benefits online, and ten them tellin other users who have been devoted to the site and har used it for years just get talked to like dirt an treated unfairly.
I completely respect your posts luke and agree conpletely

Isn't really true considering a member of staff and babyG were dating, she didn't get any special treatment, and nor should she. This was all a joke, if he seriously wanted to better his girlfriends account im sure he could have, without a problem of anyone here.

It's still so stupid, actually read through the thread and noticed that Luke never even got an apology aswell :o.
If it wa any other member of staff they probably would have been fired for sure, since one of the rules was against giving account or sharing them, even if its just a joke I don't really see anyone laughing at it, and I'm defo not laughing even tho I laugh at almost anything, just goes to show how ignorant people with power can be,
So i would like it if everyone on the forum got the Habbox God forum status :)

Hang on, why do you let people post pictures and ask for skypes then? Why isn't everyone who does that banned? You can't pick and choose which rules to play by.
A lot of the people on that site have accounts but have *never* used them.
BESIDES it's not breaking the rules to have an account it's only breaking the rules to buy furni/credits through there. And as far as I'm aware you can't prove if they ever did that......

Can I just ask why you haven't fired people, past and present, for having positions then: when it's actually been proved Lee hasn't used the site since he became mod? Would you never let people have a second chance when it's something they did years before even joining habbox (theoretically)?
I think if you fired everyone who had an account and who had bought things from there then you'd probably have a very very small staff team. You can't even do that because I know quite a few people who have different account names!

Habbox Staff represent Habbox, members just use the site. We tell you that we don't advise you use the sites and that there is a risk of you being removed from your roles at Habbox - No one seems to listen at that point and if you use the same name as you do on Habbox and Habbo then are clearly going to get reported via one of the two people who seem to report such members.

"I'm sure" is having a sense of certainty in their judgement. Which I'm sure I made pretty clear in the post? Or to me and others I'm sure it was anyway. Like I said, they're General Management pretty much the highest, active power available. I'd rather play it safe and be a good boy and respect and have some confidence in their judgement.

Chris has never done anything like that and never will so don't start accusing him of anything like that :P He doesn't even like Habbo :P and I may have done a private sale a very long time ago (and the only one I've ever done and ever will do),(and most certainly not on this site people are talking about, since I have never used that site), this was done over skype, and was a private thing until someone decided to use it as some kind of revenge for them getting fired for other reasons, someone then blabbed to myke and I was punished accordingly and wasn't allowed to return as a moderator for over a month because of it despite there being space. :P But yeah, I learnt my lesson and won't be doing such things again. :P I had it in my head that I was helping habbox at the time since I was wanting to provide better prizes in my events. Since then I have spent around £50 buying credits the proper way via Habbo as a kind of repent for my actions and to ensure that my prize fund never runs dry. :P

I'm pretty sure he did as at the time ross mentioned someone else (maybe i'm confusing it with him giving chris your address, not sure?) regardless i'm sure most staff have illegally (by habbos terms) obtained furni.
Asking ross to sell you a throne on Skype is no different from logging onto some black market website and purchasing it.
Both ways break 2 rules, obviously the sale/purchase of goods and the website/messenger (as Skype is against the rules now)

I'm not disputing it wasn't against the rules, I was punished how myke saw accordingly :P I was a stupid fool!
and yeah its probably about the address thing, since my address was shown to various people (WILL NEVER BE MAKING THAT MISTAKE AGAIN) and since Chris hasn't and would never do anything like that- he hates habbo :P but yeah a lot of staff do it and a lot of staff have done it in the past- previous general management included.

A thrilling topic of conversation if there ever was one.
True, but rules is rules. I don't know about Wubing but Lee seemed like a really good mod too, so yeah, could have "turned a blind eye" to that too, surely?
Wouldn't let Wubing anywhere near being a mod after being shown as a scammer! Not the sort I would trust with any powers on a fansite as large as this.
OH ALSO
If staff are fired why aren't normal members BANNED for using that site?
Wait, why should people be banned? You can't fire staff and ban members. If it is a bannable offence for normal users, it would/should be for staff as well.
Sulake has been contacted.
Sulake has been contacted by whom?
Redtiz replied to a question about that and said it was fine to do so (the ages and ages ago part)
In which case, staff are totally entitled to use **. They can use it to buy RSGP, and then trade that for Habbo - and that wouldn't be breaking Sulake's rules at all.
(I know you said that is an old response, just if that still stands).
Good on Habbox.
Not sure what the benefit is, if I am honest.
edit: idk why i use the :P thing so much pls dont shoot me :'(
Surely you should be fired then? :L Not that I want you to be, Martin! However, on the topic it would seem fair - as you cannot buy or sell habbo goods ;)
I've never done it lol trading on-client is boring enough without adding possible scammers into the mix as well.
Chance of being scammed is very low if you are not stupid.

Oh so someone else is advertising smstopaypal on **, who'd have thought ;) After a little look, I see how you knew Graham used it haha
---
In essence Habbox should not encourage it. However, if staff buy stuff on there they are potentially making Habbox better - heck Martin could have got one hell of a lot more by buying on the black market, rather than through Habbo itself - meaning prizes would be bigger, making events more appealing, meaning Habbox is advertised more. Obviously Habbox cannot encourage the usage of such websites, but I don't see the harm in staff on here using it - just tell them to get their usernames changed or something.
I went from Page 7 to Page 20 and all I can gather is that Recursion; used his admin powers for a bit of a laugh, everybody got in a hissy and Matt goes off saying Recursion doesn't even care about Habbox, which somehow relates to changing statistics on a user as a joke and Ross is a snitch who goes on blackmarket sites.

Is this one of those threads where people were fired/banned for doing something so mind numbingly tedious but it's still against the rules and the agreements set down by Habbo, and in the naming and shaming of those people it comes to light that staff and members of management have done the exact same thing yet refuse to step down, be banned or be fired in a somewhat ironic twist involving double standards with dodgy explanations which do not really help their case?
It's all I've managed to understand from this thread. It's one of those pointless discussions over buying furniture with cash which isn't and shouldn't be bad anyway, but for some unknown reason it is.

something like that. Bascially a staff member who is quite high in the ranks gave his gf irl a habbox account and added so many posts and the habbox god thing and other things (not sure what else exactly) and yet they are still staff.
Then they were very rude to another habboxer who has been here quite a while and never even got warned or said sorry for being rude. Also one of the rules is no account sharing or giving of accounts so why does it only affect everyone else apart from them

Bad because it means less people buy credits, which is obviously not good for habbo. Someone should suggest lowering their prices rather than raising them...
Not necessarily, banning people because these sorts of activities can actually lower the chance of people genuinely buying items the proper way (due to lack of trust, and being against an authoritarian business practice). Plus the people receiving the money may actually reinvest by buying credits/furniture through Habbo AND the furniture that is being bought may not be available in the catalogue, so it's easier to go the cash route provided you do not mind the risk.
And of course there is Habbo with their overpriced credit/£ exchange rate which will be the death of them (and hopefully so, businesses like Sulake are so out of touch and ignorant of their own problems that they sort of deserve it).
As for the topic though - I thought everyone got over Recursion having a girlfriend and showing off (for some strange reason) about 15 pages ago. The problem seems to be about the double standards within Habbox which have been common place for years now :/

Here's the email from Sulake:
Hi Matt,
As an official fansite you will want to make sure that your staff is set apart from the rest and stays on the straight and narrow with regards to Habbo rules. Using *********** will most certainly earn them a permanent ban on Habbo, so it'll raise eyebrows if they then continue on as staff for such a prominent fansite.
I'm aware that this sort of thing is going on and it has been flagged up by other fansite members too. I'd encourage you, however, to make very clear, that from a certain point onwards, *********** involvement will have repercussions with regards to Habbox staff status, as it doesn't make sense that the same user who is engaged in activities detrimental to Habbo, then continues on as staff of a fansite.

Ultimately Tom was a bit of an idiot and forgot that he'd been put on a slightly higher pedestal than everyone else. It's easy not to notice when one day you're an e-rebel forum moderator and the next you've got the keys to Habbox's ferrari server. Ultimately it was just a joke and although it hurts Habbox's credibility in our point of view it ultimately does no damage to Habbox's reputation in general, I sincerely doubt that Tom is going to make this mistake again as he probably doesn't want matt moaning at him again. Tom's been a force for good in general and whilst we shouldn't take this as meaningless it's certainly not grounds for firing.
*********** bans/dnhl/firings
Firstly, what's up with the orwellian thought-police / ministry of truth style censoring? It's not like we censor the words torrent, thepiratebay and rape. Just because they're not filtered doesn't mean we condone using/doing them, it means we can have a proper discussion about them. The moment you censor stuff the moment people actually take interest and start investigating. The filtering does the exact opposite of what is intended. Linking's another matter and linking to illegal activity has also always been disallowed on this forum anyway. However if we are to persist with this discussion over *********** then may I suggest that we use the more general term 'real money trading' or RMT for short as it'll be far less confusing for those reading along who are not in the loop.
That's really besides the point anyway. If Habbox does not take steps to fire people who obviously do RMT then Habbox can be viewed by Sulake and other users of Habbo as indirectly endorsing RMT, at the same time RMT hampers Sulake's income, it is not in Habbox's interest for RMT to continue. Really if people are going to be stupid enough to use the same account name on both sites then they deserve to be fired out of stupidity. If you are involved in RMT and you hold a high-ranking position at Habbox, like Zuth, then that is particularly bad as it sets a bad example for all the other staff. We already know that Sulake can on a whim impose rules which make little difference (e.g. people can be charged for colourful names but not for being allowed to see rep comments) so it's not a big stretch to imagine Sulake filtering the word Habbox if Habbox doesn't at least go to the small effort of firing staff who are involved in RMT.
Habbox has had a long history of having integrity, maturity and therefore setting a good example for both users and other fansites it would therefore be imprudent to not take action.
And really it's not like Habbox is really unfair about it, what I've been able to glean out of situations where people have been caught out is that if they don't outright lie about being involved in RMT in the past and promise not to do it again then they'll possibly be left alone, and indeed that seems the sensible way to go about it.

Recursion

Some of the other big fansites managers also use ** - in my eyes, Habbox is putting itself at a disadvantage when other fansites can make more impressive events.

Any fansite which uses RMT to fund events is not really a fansite. It's simply a contradiction in terms and if it is happening then Matt should prepare some evidence proving that it happens and send it to sulake and those fansites will probably get a VERY firm slap.

What are the words being filtered? It's perfectly fine to avoid the filter if discussing them properly, and censoring them just creates more curiosity over the apparent "illegal" activity. It seems weird to censor something that has happened on Habbo for years. Having them unfiltered doesn't mean you condone it, and even with the words filtered you'd still have to have moderators making sure these activities do not occur because it's not exactly hard to avoid the filter :/

In this case the purpose of the filter is outright censorship so avoiding the filter to discuss it would be against the rules in all likely-hood. That said Matt did intentionally avoid the filter to talk about it in the staff forum, but I imagine that's a bit different.
