What cool sites are unblocked at your school?

Basiclly what the title asks, what cool sites are unblocked or were unblocked at your school? We had miniclip unblocked for about a month ;)

Well, I'm at University, so nothing is blocked. Back in Year 7/8/9 we had a ridiculous filter that was based on the words on the webpage. So BBC News would often be filtered if it had the word sex on the screen :/ Year 10 onwards there was no filter either. So everyone had Facebook on in the background.

Kardan, I think our system works by the deptarment actually unblocking the sites that get visited alot, still have no idea why this is unblocked, though ;)

There's so much at my school blocked, we used to use an online msn thing which was available but then went, and then I found another one but it's gone now too.

Although back in year 7 for about the last 2 weeks of school youtube was unblocked, but the filter wasn't as strict then.
I don't think it will ever get unblocked because some parts of youtube are even blocked for teachers now.

Habbox Forum aint filtered but i have only ever been on there once in the 4 years i have been at the school lol. 0.facebook was unblocked for about 3 years (but normal facebook was blocked) but its just recently been blocked because the very very very very slow IT dude at my school has only cracked down on that stuff now ;l

I remember being in school and the IT manager blocked applications based on file names. We used to just rename game like C&C to Notepad.exe and it'd run. Amateur level network management.

errrr hxf used to work but then they put a filter on all gaming and forums lol if you google a game long enough you'll find a working website. YouTube only works during lesson times not at lunch lol obv no twitter tumblr or fb

All of them are. He saw me playing it once and quizzed me how. It's just an executable. He then blocked all .exe's from running. Hilarity ensued. I think it's amazing how these people get jobs.

at school nearly everything was blocked, it really annoying if you were trying to research something but if it had a 'rude word' on the webpage like sex it would be blocked, at my college now we get free wifi and it was only really facebook twitter etc that was blocked but they've recently blocked the app store now as everyone just abused it to download stuff onto there phones.

Basically everything was blocked at my old school (only been at this one about 7 months) except this one games site called homeworktasks.com or something. I assume it only got through because the IT technician never checked it because they thought a teacher had set the work.

My secondary school most things were blocked but my mate and I sweet talked the head of IT guy to unblock tumblr for 'educational reasons' and twitter wasn't blocked either, probably the reason my grades weren't that great since it got unblocked :P Pretty much everyone just went on the website things cant remember their names to get round the proxys so we got onto youtube etc.

Uni everythings unblocked apart from downloading 'illegal stuff' like movies and stuff.

Can't really remember what was or wasn't blocked in school. When I was like 12 I can remember everyone used to go on neopets or other game sites lmao. Intersocial; my uni blocked youtube before 4pm :( So annoying because I can't really revise and get settled until I have some music playing.

in the final year of my school they decide to unblock vimeo and google images. i swear it was hell having to do media studies with google images (or any image sites) and making posters. they've recently unblocked youtube for teachers too. oh, and i think i'm the reason they BLOCKED rottentomatoes ugh life over.

back in my day we didn't have facebook, twitter, tumblr etc. we had bebo and myspace though. from what i can remember, bebo was blocked but we always found ways to get on it so they just unblocked it anyway.

found a few porn sites that wasn't blocked but can't really bang one out in class.

Everything was blocked for a few weeks but then now and again you could go on anything and everything. Google got blocked for a few days too, fun times.

In school almost everything to do with social media was blocked with barely any ways around it. Gaming sites were also blocked, yet there was loads of ways around the block.

Whilst in Y11, myself and a couple of others started to bring Minecraft in on a USB stick/drive/whatever. Due to only the cracked ones working as minecraft.net was blocked, we had to use it cracked. The IT people eventually picked it up, but as a virus, then blocked everyone from being able to use their USBs. Luckily, we left a week or so later so we didn't really get affected.

well i go to a media college so we have a bypass for youtube and we already have twitter unblocked

Even when we were at 6th form we still had everything blocked :/

But our bypass was also by way of USB, where people put games on at home and transferred them to their memory stick and brought it to school to play, which worked but I found their games boring lol. Someone guy brought pokemon... :/ not fun. I just got on with work when I couldn't play games, thus the reason for blocking games sites etc ;)

Most of social media sites are blocked at my school /: sites like Facebook and Twitter never work but Tumblr often works.
There are other ways to access those websites but they're normally a pain on the ass because you have to know your IP your Proxy adress and yeah

At my high school pretty much everything was blocked. In college we have to get the curriculum leader to ask IT to let us bypass the block and it's time restricted on like social networking and YouTube we can like use them from 9am until 12pm & 1pm until 4pm. Pretty stupid for the college to block it during lunch though.

Pretty much everything decent was blocked at school. Game sites, social networks, youtube. You name it.

At college nothing is blocked other than the obvious things that nobody should be going on in that environment anyway.
