The first and last year of University are absolute poles apart, here is 'University in a Nutshell'. It's meant to be funny and humorous, it does take some common misconceptions and will blow some stuff way out of reality.

Library

First year:

Last year:

In your first year of University, you probably will have no idea where the library is let alone what books to take out. If you ever do enter, it'll be to look at Facebook and Twitter!
In your last year, you will have moved your bedding in and lived like a hermit for a good couple of weeks per assignment. Troubling time, you'll see...

Intimate Relations

First year:

Last year:
http://i49.tinypic.com/256yafd.gif

In your first year, you'll hope to have so many relations with your preferred sex as much as you can. You'd possibly turn in to a rabbit or incapacitated by a coil injury. 5 minutes before a lecture?
Jump to your last year and your other half could stand in front of you naked, whipped cream with some cherries and you wouldn't care...

Nights Out

First year:
http://i48.tinypic.com/11cdw5l.gif

Last year:
http://i45.tinypic.com/124a2s5.jpg

In the beginning, your flat will be a tip and you will probably wake up with pizza in various parts of your body. These parties will start at 10am and finish... NEVER. Your bed can fit 6-7 people in, on average, and you'll hardly ever wash the sheets.
Near the end, you simply haven't seen daylight in weeks. The slightest bit of noise will trigger you off in a tantrum and you'll probably stab the person across the hall from you.

Lectures

First year:
http://i48.tinypic.com/2lsv3x2.jpg

Last year:
http://i46.tinypic.com/4jke8g.jpg

You probably go to around 3 lectures a month in your first year? You haven't really read a single chapter of any book or bothered to ask your friends. After all, you woke up at 3pm so what's the point?!
In the last year, you will not miss 10 minutes of a lecture. You'll realise the difference between a 2:1 and a 1. You start to pull your finger out, eventually.

Ambitions

First year:
http://i45.tinypic.com/3vrk9.jpg

Last year:
http://i50.tinypic.com/34y7128.gif

When you arrive at University, you're adamant that this is the first step to an amazing career, a tonne of money and absolute ease of life. You'll obviously be the youngest, richest and most successful banana peeler ever.
During your final year, you settle for doing anything for a little money. Seriously.

Conclusion

You'll probably feel like the above, however you'll get through it. One way or another... One way... Or... Another...

Aw looks interesting, if this is slightly accurate.

Uni has always been a tough one for me - I can get the job I want without going to uni + it costs a lot but I also wanna experience all those stuff that people tell you about ahaa

A more accurate nutshell would be "money for nothing".

My University life is probably the complete opposite to this :P

The GIFs did their job then :)

Well, depends on the line of work you require.

University should be all about socialising and the experience, you have nothing to lose! :)

Haha, I've been the library about 3 times all this year so far, the pub which is also called the Library is a bit of a different story though...

why not?

Samantha
16-04-2013, 06:05 PM
why not?

I left college last year and there are various reasons why I don't think University is good for me, mainly due to the time you're there and I could just fail, the money etc. I have a job though so at least I'm not just sitting around doing nothing :P.

i smirked, it's a little humourous but not really accurate for everyone, probably not even the majority :p

My university life at the moment is definitely at last year level if not worse. I would love to experience this so called first year life one day

Loved the gifs.

Doubt my first year in Uni in September will be anything like it.

My university (probably only my specific degree) has this weird approach where they work us real hard in first year and it gets progressively easier as 5th year comes along. We started with like 350 in the cohort and only 40 made it to second year. So all those GIFS would be backwards for me :P

The down side about moving to Scotland to go to uni is that I will actually have to do some work. Here in Portugal is party all the time when you're in uni tbh. xD Also I don't know how I'll manage to have so many work to do on my own. D:

Uni in England in the big Northern cities is just going out constantly, or at least it is in first year!!

I have a lot of work to do alone, which I'm not used here because we don't really do any work alone, so might be more challenging for me. :P
