Nowadays, babies get their MMR jabs before their first birthday, and with the current measles outbreak there's been a lot of discussion about it recently. Anyways, I was on the forum's minecraft server and this topic sprung up, turns out I was the only person online to have had the vaccine, this just shocked me, why wouldn't you get vaccinated? So I just wanted to see how the forum shapes up...

yeah i had it when i was like 7? and then in school about 3 years ago we were meant to get it again as a 'top up'
yet i was sick that day, then i was sick the day that the people who were sick were meant to get it
so i never got my top up

yeah, i'm pretty sure i got it when i was quite young. i remember we'd always have people coming into our school to give them to those who hadn't (probably happened every year)

Never had it, nor any other vaccinations actually.
Better for the immune system to deal with disease itself then to have a vaccination after all.

My nanna told my mum I shouldn't have them (this was when I was a baby) so I didn't.

Yeah. Bit stupid if you don't get it really due to whatever reason. Especially seeing how they're free for you (if you're under 18/don't pay tax).
yup, I had all my vaccinations. I used to hate getting them in school. The BCG was traumatic :(

When you have the vaccination, the immune system DOES deal with the disease itself. When you get the disease minus the vaccination, the immune system does its best but will not cope.
Had mine when I was much younger. Didn't loads of people not have them because there was a correlation between MMR and autism? Or was that something else? Turned out to only be a correlation, though..

Doesn't a vaccination involving injecting a dead/inactive part of the disease into your body anyway, so your immune system knows which antibodies to release in the future? Or do I have the wrong end of the stick :P
I have had them.

Got it in one. So your memory cells know exactly how to react if you get it again.
I'm pretty sure I've had them.

There are some people that think that way. I remember watching a show or whatever it was of a family that their older kid got a vaccine and due to it either got autism or another thing worst and died, something like that, so their other kid was in the doctors' and the doctor wanted to give him a vaccine and the family said no.
My mother says I took it, so I'll believe it. :P

Complete and utter anecdotal ********.
Every person has their beliefs..
> ''Theresa Cedillo claims her daughter’s autism was caused by a measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine she received when she was 15 months old. Cedillo said her daughter was a “happy, engaged toddler” who could talk and respond when her name was called. Now at 13 years old, Michelle is still wearing diapers, looking at picture books, and enjoys watching Sesame Street and Blue’s Clues. (Read the full story here.)
Michelle’s parents said that after their daughter received the vaccine, her mental development was drastically altered, and days after getting the vaccination suffered from mild complications. Michelle later stopped talking and responding to her name.
The Cedillos are one of 4,900 families suing the government, claiming that the vaccine causes their child’s autism.
So who’s right? The thousands of parents who say, “Yes, that vaccine made my child develop autism!” or the scientists who say, “No. Studies show that there is not a link to children’s vaccinations and autism.”?''

My grandma thought they were a bad idea at the time but my parents ignored her (thank goodness).
