I was just wondering what your opinions were on the ages of players of habbo?
What age is too old to be playing habbo?
Personally,
I used to think 18 was old to be playing habbo. But now it's regular that 20 year olds are playing it.
I think when you get to about 22/23 you should definantly stop playing habbo.
Anyone else share my opinion?

We have plenty of users on HxF in their early twenties, although some don't actually use Habbo anymore.
I don't think there is a specific "age" to stop playing Habbo. I hope I will quit at some point though :(

I think in some ways it depends in what kind of ways people use it really
You say 'play' in your original post, but I guess a lot of the more mature users use it to keep in contact with people they have spoken too through Habbo and as more of a social media kind of thing, like a chat site really.
I myself am 22 and I guess the only way I 'play' Habbo these days would be in events (bingo etc LOL), I don't think I would be interested in any of the roleplay/hospitals/schools/police stations etc that a lot of the younger users play etc, but then again some might! :)
I personally don't see anything wrong with it xD

The question is, when does it become wrong in the eyes of the media/law?
Would people thing that it's just plain wrong for a 30+ person to be on a social network designed for 13-18 year olds?
MKR&*42
26-04-2013, 06:20 PM
There is no age limit. If you want to play Habbo whilst you're 40+ then so be it.
A social networking platform is open for anyone, there should be no age you are forced to stop using it. I imagine most older users only go on there to chat with people.
Nor does someone being older = pedo lol. That's as invalid as a guy in a preschool = pedo.

I personally thing it's gone too far when you are 20+ and in college / university and playing habbo. It has gone to the point where you should leave habbo for good and do something better in your life. If you really try and quit habbo, you will be able to do it.

If you enjoy playing a game, there is no such thing as being 'too old'. As long as you're not making friends with people 40 odd years younger lolz x
I can see myself playing habbo in my 40s if it still existed -- except I won't, because it's becoming less enjoyable.
orientalframe?
26-04-2013, 10:20 PM
i don't think there should be a limit on how old you have to be to 'play' as some just use it as a form of communication, rather than role-playing or whatever. i don't see a problem with older players going on it :P
umm much more than 20 u should probs think about quitting. having said that since coming to habbox forum regularly i now realise there r a lot of 'older' ppl on this forum and as long as ur with ppl in ur age bracket then i dont see why u would or should immediately want to quit. tbh 20 sounds a heck of a lot older than it actually is, its weird.

This hits the nail right in the head tbh. I'm 20 and still use Habbo, the majority of people I speak to on Habbo are a similar age to me and we certainly don't 'play' Habbo lol. I purely go on to speak to my friends, I don't see what's wrong with that in anyway at all. Surely it's just the same as using an online forum or being involved with other communities on the internet. So no I wouldn't say no age is too old, I remember someone called Dibblez (something similar to that) she was a gold Hobba back in 04/05 and in her 40s I think and I'm quite certain her daughter played too !
@subo (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=112144); yeah the jump from 19 to 20 is so depressing, feel ancient :(
Also I've known people on Habbo/Habbox for years, I think my oldest Habbo friend is 7 years now. She doesn't play anymore but we still keep in contact and the point being I've made some really strong friendships this past year @Red (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=81989); @Comity (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=101389); @Kyle (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=30795);) and if I'd just quit because I was getting 'old' I'd of never made them so no am not gna quit anytime soon.

Tbh i don't have any friends on there where I see them all the time (most people get to know me, have great convo and thats it never see them again) I use the laptop during the night and habbo helps me pass time, its good for chats with people with simular interests and beliefs, i try to join in with the rest of the fun but get bored very easily

I don't there is a too old age, but I think there is a too old age for certain activities on Habbo for example if you're 25 and hanging out in casinos, chatting to friends, playing games then I don't see the issue. If you are 25 and hanging out in smexy singles hookup club then there is an issue lol

Also at that age people should really stop playing a teens game and focus on more important things. Another think I hate is when these 20+ sit in 18+ rooms talking and acting like thugs.

Not all 20 year olds are in RP themed rooms. A lot of people use habbo as a way of contacting and keeping in contact with friends. I think it's quite rude and overall a shame that you found/find it "dirty". When you say about focusing on more important things people can still be 20+ play habbo and still focus on important things just like you can go to school and still play habbo if you see where I'm coming from.

yes because being old means you aren't allowed to talk to people online anymore. :S What do you mean "focus on more important things"? you act like as soon as people leave school they no longer have personal time outside of a social life/work!
I only use habbo to talk to like 5 people max all of whom I can contact in other ways, but it just doesn't feel the same without their little habbo talking back :( about 90% of my time is spent in one room and the rest getting my hair cut in the habbo salon.

Love the people saying they hate 20+ users... you're forgetting some of us have been using it since the beginning and use it now to keep in contact with those people we've known for a long time. It's no different to using Facebook, it's a social media site for us. It just happens to have a more childish avatar approach.

I have a feeling a lot of you who may say 20 is too old to play Habbo will be on here when you're 20 as well. It just becomes less of a priority at that age obviously. Like another user posted, a lot of the older people you see on Habbo aren't really "playing" they're more likely to be keeping in communication with people they've talked to over the past years.

Well I'm 21 and although I don't exactly 'play', I still use habbo for probably like 10 minutes a day just to see whats going on or if i need to do something for content work. I have a job, a social life and habbo/habbox is just something extra to do when i have spare time. Admittedly I don't really talk to anyone on there anymore as most people I would have been friends with left a long time ago and any that did stay would know me on my banned account and not the one I use now. I don't really see anything wrong with this tbh. Like someone else said it is essentially a social network for older users who have been around for a long time.
I am in my twenties and I still play habbo from time to time. I only come i
on to update my extensive collection of rooms and raise funds collect the furni I like, then I go off again. Ive been
on since the beginning and thats all I have ever done. Ive never been into the games, the cinos, the dating, the cliques etc.
And guess what, I still have time to socialise and hold down a job, relationship, and a mortgage!
I'd prob say when you hit 25 is about a good limit to stop actively playing.

I have been playing for 8 years this year, I am going to turn 21 in the same month my Habbo turns 8 lol. I have decided that I will leave during this month too. I think 21 is a good time for me personally to go, I have other ways of contacting those who I want to keep in contact with out of Habbo now too so I don't really have any reason to stay as over the past year or two all I do is just use it for chatting with friends and not trading. Although sadly most of those have now left as well.
I find it really hard to make friends with people now, and like somebody else has said after chatting to someone who you think is great and you get on well, you come on again and they never speak to you again or they've removed you :P I give up lol!
I'd say you should stop when you think it's time, not when anyone else thinks it's time for you to go. People have different reasons for playing that other people sometimes don't understand.
you should stop playing it properly at like 18 imo.. dunno how older people can play it so much

Whilst it's not wrong to play it at any age (ignoring little children here), I do think people should have better priorities than Habbo probably from 18+... Because I'm sure there was a point in our lives when we would spend all day on Habbo, but doing that as an adult would probably scare me personally :P But each to their own :P

Wow, there's a whole lot of ageists in this forum. I know people who hold down a job (part/full time) or have kids in their early 20s who still play Habbo, be it for the game (if you can even call it that) or keeping in touch with friends. They know their priorities, they don't need people in their teens to "remind" them. Lighten up.
SPiffyy, if someone has kids it is COMPLETELY WRONG for them to be playing habbo, especially if they have a baby! Unless the children are older and the parent is playing when the kids are in bed...I have seen mothers with BABIES playing habbo and it is not right at all, they should be devoted to their baby, not giving their attention to habbo

Ask any mum, looking after their little one is a full time job, especially if youre breastfeeding, the precious first moments of a babys life are so short and the majority of mums wouldnt be sitting playing an online game instead of looking after their little one....

I know a girl who recently gave birth and her newborn is her #1 priority, she lessened her online time of course but she still logs on to say hi so your argument is irrelevant. Just because it's something you personally find atrocious does not mean every other mum out there can't find time to be a mother and do other stuff in their downtime.

How old is your little one? And I have not said that theyre bad mothers, and never ******* would! Im sure youre a devoted mummy to your little one but when he or she gets a lil bit older things will change
As a mummy of a 1 and a half year old you'd understand my previous comment, I just personally cant see how a mum can be entertaining her 1 and a hlf year old if the child is just on your lap in front of a screen to be honest, I am sure youre a good mum to your DCs, I have never met anyone who does this or would ever do this...and I know A LOT of mums

well you come across as a moron, lol. of course you need to prioritize your baby and i'm sure mothers would know that, but they still have time for leisure activities. you seem to think if you're a mother and playing habbo, you'd be neglecting the baby? babies do sleep, dunno if you're aware of that. it's not as if they'd be playing habbo when they were ******* breastfeeding. i don't know why you're bringing up ignoring either, like who said they'd be playing habbo when the babies awake?! you're talking about priorities but you're missing it, the baby is obviously going to be #1 priority but that wouldn't stop the mum going on habbo from time to time. like tara said, they could play habbo whilst the babies sleeping, that's fine.
you just seem ignorant
'A moron' for stating my opinion, I literally don't know ANY mum that goes on games for ages on the computer when they have a very young DC... I mean please tell me what world ya living in? subo you said yourself you've been on all day
yes so?
wat about any parent who isn't on for ages. u said urself
if someone has kids it is COMPLETELY WRONG for them to be playing habbo
this is a fairly large generalisation to make

Um, you're the only one here telling mothers how they should raise their child based on your personal opinion and you're acting as if they're neglecting their kids, etc. Tone down the hyperbole and take a deep breath, thanks.
There's so so much a mum needs to do in a day you know, sitting on a game all day means those things aint getting done, simple. And what world do ya live in seriously... no mother I know sits playing a game instead of looking after their little ones, same goes for the mums that just stare at the telly instead of you know, cooking, cleaning, feeding their kids, taking them out, playing with them, activities, reading to them, cuddles, talking etc. I have never met a mum who would just sit doing their own thing while DC has to entertain themselves. I live in england by the way
again u have said SITTING ON A GAME ALL DAY. no1 ever said that it was acceptable for a parent to spend their entire day online....has the possible thought that there is a responsible adult doing caring duties allowing the parent time to themselves to not slave away non-stop (which u seem to think is the only acceptable thing a parent should be doing). but of course u dont know any parent that does that so it cannot be acceptable!!!11

My mum was a young mum, and a gamer, she taught me how to play Doom (yes the 1993 DOS version LOL) and she still took me out to parks and went to my school plays AND the cinema AND piano lessons AND AND etc not gonna bore you but you get the idea. My mum is awesome and still had hobbies and time to herself while I was with my school mates. I think I turned out just fine (H)

I turn 20 in a few days, probably most my mates have babies/kids, and i dont know anyone, family included who think being a mummy is 'slaving away'
lifes all about the little things, seeing your precious little loved ones laughing and smiling when you play with them, cluddling up and reading a story, doing activities etc. its so sad when you miss the precious moments, so so sad it really is... :( really heartbreaking. and you did say you have sat on habbo ALL DAY when you have 2 DCs! As a woman and a mum you surely understand this...
I suppose there could be another adult in the house doing these things but thats not usually the case, usually the dad is at

There's not many times I agree with your posts, but hell are you right here. +Rep.
I know plenty of people on online games that are new mums. Babies and children take up a lot of your time, but not 24/7.

I'm sure most of us oldies planned to leave before we were 18 but it's just not how it works out... is anyone with me? @Red (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=81989); @wixard (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=64175); @Kyle (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=30795); @scottish (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=53890); @Comity (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=101389); @xxMATTGxx (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=1020); @Absently (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=50287); @Ms.Aquamarine (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=79773); THTS ALL THE OLD PPL I CAN THINK OF ATM
Forget me then, I see, really though I'm only older than Kelly :P.
I really don't go on Habbo as much now, only to trade and sometimes mazes and events. It's when you feel ready, but I don't think anyone should really care about when others leave and just go when you'ew ready :P.
at this point dnb i think u r entirely delusional and ignorant. do u have no understanding of balancing ur time, sharing ur responsibilities or anything in a normal lifestyle. u cannot believe that a parent has to devote 100% of their time to housework and childcare. people no matter how busy their lives are get time to actually stop and relax. parents get support from each other and other friends and family. and yes devoting 100% of ur time to raising a child is slave work. from time to time ppl want to unwind and get the chance to (this also applies to this thread in general before it was completely derailed and the 15 year olds saying that when u reach 18+ u have different priorities in life such as work, uni and social life meaning u no longer have the time or desire to play habbo) (this also does not just apply to a parent choosing to play habbo which u said was "completely wrong" and could apply to any free leisure time they may have)

I personally thing it's gone too far when you are 20+ and in college / university and playing habbo. It has gone to the point where you should leave habbo for good and do something better in your life. If you really try and quit habbo, you will be able to do it.
see thing is even if i wasn't playing habbo (which i don't really, only ever used it to socialise) id have replaced it with something else like a new forum or so. i use live journal and tumblr where there are 20/30 year olds with kids on there.
also .DnB; ive seen mothers here who go out every weekend getting drunk, starting from the first weekend their babies are born... that's the 'bad' mothers, not one who logs onto habbo every so often to say hi. people who do do that prob spend the same amount of time on habbo as a new mother does uploading pics of their kid on Facebook..
im 20 at uni and sometimes feel im too old to be on this forum but tbh if i wasn't id be in a different forum of all ages so idrc, ive made good friends so if i log on habbo it will just to be to say hi to everyone.
when i get engaged and have babies i will be on hxf as soon as ive given birth to share wid u all n as soon as im proposed to to invite u all :S :S
When I have a child I fully intend to sell them rights in my jungle run
dnb this is ur fault

dnb just because you don't personally know any new mothers who play online games it doesn't mean that they don't exist or don't have a strong commitment to their child. Everybody needs a break from reality every now and then. Of course not all babies sleep for long periods at a time every day but where is the harm in taking the time off if they are sleeping... Or even if you're sitting with them, it's still entirely possible to interact with a child and be logged on to habbo chatting to people, it's not like the conversation you get from a baby is all that riveting anyway.
btw wtf is a DC
