Studying for Sixth Form

Ok I'm trying to get into some courses at sixth form, but before I apply I need to get ready to redo the best subject in the world...maths. I'm pretty bad at maths, like I got an E in GCSE. Anyone got any guide/or can help me study? :(

I was predicted a D at GCSE Maths but came out with an A* by going over all past papers, using MyMaths and actually studying in class. When you don't know a question on a past paper, don't let it trip you up. Take a note of the question number and revise it until you know method to solve the question like the back of your hand. Once you know how to solve it, vary the question - change the numbers etc and try it again.

Then re-do the past paper. Twice.

khanacademy.org is fantastic for both learning and practising the content. Other than that the trick is past papers, lots of them.

An often neglected resource is right here. Plenty of people here on habboxforum are more than happy to answer and explain maths questions. If there's one thing which is pretty much guaranteed to get an answer in this sub-forum then it's maths questions. It might not be key to getting the grade you want, but if you're stuck on head-scratcher of a past paper question or even if you know the answer but don't really understand how to get it then don't hesitate to post it here and someone will definitely help you out in no time at all.

And you've heard it before but it bears repeating: past papers. Do 'em til your eyes bleed.

Go over a revision guide and do questions in that so you have a good grasp of what you're doing before you start doing the past papers because they're limited so you'll run out if you just start on them straight away. They're more useful at the end of your revision!

the best remedy is PAST PAPER AFTER PAST PAPER etc., learn the process. it's boring and dull but it has to be done hon. once you have your C or above, that is it!

i don't think it's really a good judge of character for sixth forms, even unis, to say "you MUST have a C in maths". like there was a girl in my sixth form who was SO talented at languages, like ridicuously talented, and she now does classics at cambridge, but was useless at mathsy subjects. think the uni overlooked the fact she only just passed GCSE maths/science etc. cos she was so fab.

just past papers as people have said dani really. Also just go and do specialised questions on the areas you are stuck in really until you area able to answer the questions but also able to understand why it works whatever you are doing as that is far more important and ask any of us on the forum if you are completely stuck! i don't know if studentroom does anything for gcse but that could be useful too

Yeah i've got my fair share of help on here (A)

And pretty much what everyone else has said, past papers are key. If you do enough of them then tbh there's nothing that the exam board can throw at you that you won't have seen before.
