View Full Version : Staff - Jamesy?

Casanova

Can you tell me why Jamesy (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=34640) whom was amongst the longest serving staff member's in higher management (and the longest serving technical member?) doesn't have VIP nor a badge of merit?

Whereas people like Hoteluser, Oli & flyingjesus have merit, in the first two instances VIP?

What a load of ****e, get it sorted.

---------- Post added 06-05-2013 at 05:57 PM ----------

And before anyone doubts it, remember for a few years Jamesy & Jin were the only two with 'superadmin' accounts ;)?
The only two will full back end access? He was the backbone of Habbox for years!

I think he should certainly have merit, and im pretty sure he did at one point, so no idea why he doesnt. Managers who are management for a certain amount of time and over get merrit, as well as those who have made a special contribution, which Jamesey certainly did :) Not really sure about the vip, since he hasnt logged in since february 2012 and I don't think he plans on coming back last time I spoke to him :(

He doesn't but it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the respect to have it, he was for a long time more critical to HX & HXF than hoteluser, oli, garion, mattg or jin combined...

Im sure he did have vip for quite a while after leaving, but I would assume it runs out after a certain amount of months :P I'm sure it wouldnt hurt to give him some more though if thats what management want to do

Casanova

He deserves it back, I mean the old initial team members retain it like JRH, I'm sure.
And his merit, even if he isn't here he deserves to be recognized.

No one will remember that because that was never the case. Jamesy was already in Habbox Merit but for some reason it took him out of the group. Fixed it for him but nothing to rant/rage about but hey ho, welcome back.

My memory may be fuzzy but even if I made **** up it's still totally unfair he lacks his merit & VIP, as we all know Jamesy would only want purple vip.

He had a superadmin account, I'm sure of it.
Stop ignoring me, purple vip & badge of merit. Unless you can tell me why he wouldn't deserve it when other's have done way less and walk around with it.

Like flyingjesus (or he did have it the last time I knew). What was his job? he spent a month doing nothing but creating arguments on the forum. Like every other month.

It was probably hoteluser that removed his merit & VIP anyway, we all know the sheer hatred he had for Jamesy ?

Have you seriously come back to stick up for Jamesy who hasn't complained about his status at Habbox or even comes on the forum?

He may have had a Super Admin account but do you know what that actually means? I've been a Super Admin account for quite a while even when Jamesy was staff. To be honest, I am pretty sue he had the same access as me in terms of control panels and access. But that doesn't include anything server level. So it was never just "Jin and Jamesy".

Also just worked it out that HotelUser was staff longer in a "technical" role. Also don't accuse him as he hasn't touched his account at all.

Hell, he can have VIP for all I care but if he wants some he can come online and ask for it!

He last visited over a year ago so it doesn't really matter that he doesn't have VIP seen as its only uses are for if you're active on the forum. I'm sure if he came back and said hey I worked really hard, can I have some VIP, mattg wouldn't say nah go away. jrh and mizki don't have VIP, for example. Seems a weird request.

Merit I can understand though.

I don't think anyone gets permanent VIP and I don't think he should either? He resigned ages ago so any VIP he did get would have expired; when I resigned from management I got 6 months VIP for being in management for 12 months. Other people with VIP may have just earned it/bought it.

Casanova

Oml why do people start threads over people with/without Habbox Merits - it just leads to a massive argument over the entire system eventually.

I wasn't around when he was staff (was i...?) so I can't really comment that much, but I don't understand the reasoning for giving a long inactive user VIP unless they become active again?

Hardly, I popped on seen a dear friends account and was curious as to his recognition. It didn't, under my definition of "constructive" add anything when other members have already stated/asked what you have - where do you see the constructive?

How about you **** off and comment else where if you have an issue with my response? No one is asking your feedback? The issue has been addressed (as much as a member such as Matt is capable of) so there's nothing much else to add to this, considering I've already stated I disagree with the muted item you raised.

eugh all managers before a certain time were told to post in a thread (if I remember correctly) to say how much VIP

if he wants VIP he can post for it, hardly ANYONE is going to see his posts any more so it's really not worth giving it to him. Neither was anyone ever given lifetime VIP, it will run out.

Merit, I agree with, I thought he was on the list, don't understand why he didn't ahve it but that seems to be sorted if I read this correctly?

Looking at the merit criteria '•Have worked for Habbox in a managerial role for 1 year (with no breaks) OR have contributed something outstanding to Habbox.' can I have it yet or not, 2 years in management and I resigned, now I am now a manager again yet still should have it, talking about those who resigned and came back i.e. Mike and Martin that got it, I'm not that fussed, but since the thread is there. Allan will agree yeye Casanova; :P.

I do agree with merit though so it's good it's been given back to him, I even remember him as staff, I've been here a little long.

Were you in that management role for a complete year with no breaks? if so then yes you should have it according to that criteria :P Even though I have resigned and came back, I was originally news manager for over a year with no breaks and I think thats the reason why I got it, not because of my Assistant General Manager, forum manager/smod status etc.

28/06/2011-31/01/2013 so yes, interlocked management there and was the assistant in Rare Values and news at the same time lmao. I did ask Matt, yet I got told no as apparently no one was getting it.

The reason was merit was being looked at, so no one was getting it or being removed, even if Jamesy had it originally, if it was still being reviewed he would still not have it currently, hence I believed it has changed thus I should be entitled, although he does deserve it :P.

Seems a pointless group to me, like the one that all ex-GMs have. Respect is earned and all that jazz. Personally, I think quite a lot of the people who were fired probably deserve more merit for sticking up to their convictions, rather than people who, from what the FAQ suggests, brown nosed or gave up before the cold, dark hand of death/sackings got to them :P

Still seems a bit cliquey anyway.

EDIT:

Is there is a list of Merit users to browse? It doesn't seem to be an obvious to find list for a group of people who must be so amazing that they ought to be recognised.

I check Habbox.com on the odd occasion and in the forum widget I happened to see a thread about Jamesy pop up. Perhaps against my better judgement I decided to hop on my account and make this reply.

First since it was brought up, I do think Jamesy did a lot for the forum and should be recognized for that. He was a great Forum Manager, extremely friendly and easy to talk to, and pushed out several different and lovely forum themes. There's a lot of old staff who I think should be recognized such as Hayley (Angel-Light), Leah, Nicole, Danube and Dan for RV, Rosie (Catzsy) and a lot more. I remember working with management and giving a few folks VIP for recognition when I was here. Matt, Myke and Milke are all approachable guys and I'm sure they're willing to listen to suggestions as to which former staff are worthy of recognition VIP. Every few years I also remember a loose review process wherein those who held merit were reviewed and the merit list was updated which typically took care of those with merit who were given it under sketchy circumstances. It could be an idea for management to look over the merit list again if there's active feedback regarding it.

Since it was also (rather rudely) brought up: Oli and Garion both contributed years and tremendous time and effort towards Habbox. Just because you don't personally like an individual doesn't mean you should ignore the good things that person did for Habbox. Infact, I think doing so is quite childish. Jake (Immenseman) and I rarely got along, however I wish him no ill-will and I think he should definitely be recognized with merit (it's also nice to see that he has a page on the wiki-- impressive!). I think it's also important to mention that it's difficult to start arguing as to who "deserves merit more", because I highly doubt there's any one person on the forum who knows every single contribution of every staff member past and present. Instead of pitching one merit individual against another it's probably better to just look at the list of *known* contributions that individual members have made to Habbox. The list in my opinion should not be a mere competition, it should be a way to remember the contributions and dedication of previous staff members to the fansite.

I loved James and I miss him greatly :( Working with him was one of my favourite experiences at Habbox :P He was always so passionate about things and so full of energy and positivity, and he was just a really nice down to earth guy and I miss talking to him :( and you are right, he gave the community a chance to help decide things, and trusted their opinions a lot. People never do, and Jamesy did a lot of things for Habbox behind the scenes!

My personal opinion is that the requirements for Habbox Merit are flawed. I don't think holding a manager position for a year should grant Habbox Merit, but only people who made a huge impact on Habbox. I mean, I wouldn't consider someone who managed graphics for a year of someone of mass importance, but if someone was a super moderator for many years, I would recognize them.

The thing is though, it's too late to just change the definition of it now really, because half the people that have it will probably get upset if they lose it... Personally I think the best thing to do would be to retire the award, but hey :P

People never do, and Jamesy did a lot of things for Habbox behind the scenes!
Both Danube and Undertake already have the award. Shame -Danube-; never comes on any more :'(. I agree with how people rarely recognise the amount of work people do behind the scenes, though.
