Airshows are fun, fast and exciting until they go wrong

In Madrid, Spain a vintage jet plane (HA-200 Saeta) that was built in the 1950s as an advanced jet trainer has plunged into a hangar exploding. A spokesman for Spain's Defense Ministry has spoken out about the incident. The experienced pilot Ladislao Tejedor Romero, aged just 35 died of his injures in the serious burns unit of Getafe hospital.

Around about 3,000 people were at the Cuatro Vientos airfield watching a display of aerial acrobatics when the plane crashed. A fireball of thick black smoke rose up into the air. According to reports a rescue worker suffered from burns and a 57 year old man believed to be the pilots father suffered an anxiety attack. A third rescue worker also was reported to have suffered smoke inhalation and received first aid at the scene. At this current moment the cause of the crash remains unknown. It seems that although air shows are quite safe these accidents will still happen.

I don't think air shows are too dangerous, only a small percentage of them go wrong lol

This is the first one I've heard of that's gone wrong. They are waaaaaaaay too dangerous.

Just to add my opinion in - I think they should still go on as they are fun and the pilots obviously enjoy doing it otherwise they wouldn't fly the planes.

I remember when the red arrows went wrong and they cancelled their show here. </3

To expand on my previous post, not that I believe my previous post needs expanding upon, here are a list of things that, by your standards, should be deemed too dangerous:

Viagra
Hose Racing
Schools
Fighter Jets
Royal Families
Helicopters
TV Conferences
Umbrellas
Jack Daniel's
Toothpicks
Opera
News TV Shows
Comedy Acts
Bad Weather

All have caused deaths and have gained media coverage because of that. Ban them all.

And that is directed at me? Your judging me upon what evidence exactly? I am simply doing the role that I applied for here and creating a discussion/interest. Please read my above post, thanks.

Your role is to re-write Habbo news and report on the values of differently coloured pixels. What part of those roles involves crashes at air shows in Madrid?

My role as a news reporter is to report news. Habbo, Room Reviews, Interviews and Real Life News. This is classed as real life news and is posted in current affairs forum which is what it is. Please go read up on these things before you judge, thank you commenting and I hope you have a good day :]

I think, as a news reporter, you need to read up on the definition of the word judge. Then, unless somebody is directly quoting you, it means that the post was not directly aimed at you, more of the question that you asked in the original post. After that, you could ask better questions. And when you decide to do that, don't go off on a tirade when somebody brings rational thought and logic in the equation.

Note: see how I quoted you here, that's because I was directly replying to your post.

I'm not even going to argue with you mate. You directed that post at me because of the question I asked in the article. However, you did direct that post AT me not AT the question that I asked and you know you made it personal. Thank you again for commenting.

So it was a question that has an answer? And you didn't get that answer so had a rant? Excellent. That's not a debate, or a discussion.

I've to a few RAF shows and they were awesome. It's such a rare occurrence for crashes to happen. I do think they're safe and great fun to watch, these things unfortunately happen. RIP to the pilot.

Air Shows should never be stopped fully - Of course lessons can be learnt from any crashes if there was something down wrong due to the pilot or procedures. They aren't dangerous at all - If anyone considers them dangerous then they must also agree that any type of flying is dangerous.

I've been to quite a few airshows and have always had a good time and nothing has gone wrong in them.

Yeah! They were amazing. Loads of bits going on, although my favourite parts were always the guys parachuting out of a plane and landing right in front of us :P

That sounds great that does. I went near the airport once (Obviously you can't get really close) and the Red Arrows did this mini display thing for the group of us that had gathered there before they landed. It was cool.

It seems weird to ask if they're dangerous when they're not, given the fact only one person died in this incident and only a small number of people tend to die in others. They're risky for the pilots, but not dangerous in the grand scheme of things.

I ask this to create a discussion. After all, News isn't all about just putting some words on a site. Its about the community too and their views on things.

I suppose. The question was worded a bit weirdly but probably because of the article it's based on. A better question could of focused on maybe better funding or perhaps better ways to ensure accidents do not happen by reducing risk. For example, just fly pasts rather than acrobatics, although that would just be the final nail in the coffin for air shows if that were to happen.

Yes, it would be the final nail in the coffin if that were to happen, also that would never happen. Which is why I asked the question that I did. In the real world, people have opinions of both sides of air shows. Some are for and some are against. I wanted to see what you guys thought. I wouldn't be doing my volunteer job role here at Habbox properly if I never asked for any of your opinions. I'd like to thank you for commenting :) Is there anything else you'd like to share with us about the whole airshow topic while your here?
