Anyone watching this, or interesting in it?

Just started, on BBC atm. Fascinating the procedures that happen before (the role of Black Rod for example).

Just mentioned the government is continuing its aims of the education system changes.

"The notional environment in which communication over computer networks occurs."

Definitely shows the times we live in though, doesn't it? :P Queen is now leaving, it would appear the book from which she read had large writing, as she seemed to change the pages a lot :L (Not that that is a bad thing, just noticed it aha)

It's quite common for this sort of event to have the reader read from something printed with large writing. Quite a lot of legal proceedings have them too, it's weird seeing young people read off stuff like that which always looks as though they are doing it for the benefit of the judge, which doesn't help the image judges have of being senile and outdated :P

I haven't seen, but i've heard certain pieces of legislation mentioned on Twitter.

I feel sorry for Her Majesty, basically having to read out loud the disaster her government is going to inflict on the country over the next year.

Nothing concrete as usual from the useless Tories that their going to secure our national independence and leave the European Union, nothing about securing our borders to prevent thousands coming in next January from Eastern Europe, nothing about lowering the national debt, nothing about crime and disorder on our streets, nothing about the looming energy crisis (a result of EU policy) - the list is endless. Still, at least it's only two years until they face yet another defeat (barring exceptional circumstances) at the ballot box, having last won a General Election back in 1992/3.

I can't bear to watch PMQs anymore, Question Time or any interviews anymore. Full of endless lies, jibes and no real policy differences.

They don't want to leave the EU so why would they say they would? Just putting that out.

And thats the exact problem, the people do but they don't.

The majority of people want a controlled immigration system, yet we have the opposite.
The majority of people want government spending under control, yet we have the opposite despite the spin.
The majority of people expect the government to do the most basic of jobs and keep the lights on, yet we're facing an energy crisis.

Useless, useless, useless.

I mean for example at PMQs today, I heard that Ed Miliband and Labour were making a point on immigration and there being no unskilled jobs for British youngsters - I mean WHAT!? how can anybody sit infront of their television and actually think that while Miliband has a valid point, he was in the last Labour Government who opened the door to hundreds of thousands of Polish workers - the same goes for when the Tories say the same things, ie the national debt. They are all so two faced, and you can just tell they don't actually believe a word of what their saying themselves.

How can somebody be so dishonest with themselves and willingly forget their own parties record and then pretend they have the solution? it's baffling.

From what I understood is was mostly about education and how they're going to reform the disastrous system that they created :P I'm shocked at how bad our education system seems to be :/ I'm going to have to look into what a standard junior school curriculum looks like but apparently it's appalling.

I always read out the word baffling like Nigel Farage in my mind now (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CreCter7AS8) :P

The people care about immigration.

YouGov polls show the people don't necessarily want to leave the EU.

But this is what I mean, take education. Instead of having an actual debate on how education should function (ie whether private vs state, or grammar vs comprehensive) all we have is a debate over whether the Conservatives can run a bad education system better than Labour can. All it seems to revolve around now is, who can run X bad system better than the other? Time for some different ideas and solutions.

And aha, indeed when I typed that that came into my head. :P

Vast majority of polls show people do want to leave the EU, the latest YouGov from last night putting the Independence side at 46% to 35% remaining in. The one poll you refer to of earlier this year produced a different result (ie a tie) due to the fact that the methodology had changed - not to mention the massive scaremongering campaign that had been launched at the same time.

Ironically for immigration to be sorted out we have to leave the EU.

In actual fact I was referring to the reasons why people vote, as of the last General Election (no other poll can currently be considered, as this was the latest General Election). Just 10% of people made their vote based on Europe - meaning it is obviously not an issue that the Conservatives need to talk about that much.

Meanwhile the economy and immigration are bigger issues, which suggests why the speech was dominated by the two topics.
