View Full Version : Habbo games ruined

1) Not being able to go diagonal in certain circumstances. This happened a day after they featured an event on the homepage where you had to be able to go diagonal to complete it. Lack of communication between developers and community staff (as per). A lot of old mazes have been ruined because of this due to the owner not playing anymore.
2) Not being able to come down off stages. If you stack 2 stages (grass, lost tribe, country, garden, black star, small and large stages) on top of one another you can no longer step down from it. Again, ruined games which expect you to go up and down levels. There are probably other furni too such as the stone patio. Just tried what I had.
3) Unable to die in mat mazes. You can't fall from a high level to a low level unless there is a path down to it. So say there were 5 mats in a row that went up 1 z shelf each time. You could get to the 5th one. You could go from 5th to 4th. You can no longer go from the 5th to the square infront which would be the 6th (the one with no mat) your Habbo will walk back down to the 3rd one, all the way around them and to the 6th square rather than 'falling'.
Don't know if anyone will care but I only really go on Habbo to play in tournaments and carnivals and last few days so many levels have been broken and owner not realised until we were there playing.
Does anyone know if these changes that have all happened in the last week are on purpose?

I think they're all just glitches that will be fixed - I hope so anyway. I noticed the diag thing in my room earlier.

These aren't updates, they are glitches that will be resolved when the new update comes out. Who knows, there might be a new room update soon?

yeah, really hoping these are all glitches, other wise i'm going to have to completely redo certain levels of my maze...
also walk through is really ****** up atm, in the bunny dash game its so annoying because of it!

This is what I hoped. So I spoke to Johno and Ubergergely and they said they are purposeful updates to make the movements of your avatar and I quote, "more natural". I'm not one to complain about updates. I generally think most updates are beneficial. This however, has really lessened my enjoyment.

Everything's so messy, stacking is so weird now, im being so paranoid by it when im building my wired maze. Hope all these glitches and bugs can solved and fixed ASAP. ;(

Right the dig 'bug' isn't a bug its for an update.. But the dig only does not work at door for me?
Stacking should be fixed soon.

Because people can't walk diagonally in real life.

Lmao how is it more natural, as said above I think humans are capable of walking diagonally.
Mr-Trainor

Yeah.. I'm pretty sure I can walk diagonally in real life lol. On the topic of mazes; http://www.habbo.com/room/31143111 - [my fav maze] pass the first room and go to second room, and it doesn't seem to let you walk off the mat on the rollers once you're on it?

They've pulled this crap before (shameless plug of an old thread of mine: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=630386&highlight=games+ruined+history).
The sad fact is that the people making these decisions seem completely oblivious to the work and thought that goes into designing games, mazes and user-created rooms in general. There are foundations which all rooms are built on; given truths about the game which are understood to be constants (because they've been unchanged since I made that bloody thread 2 years ago).
Many user-created rooms are enormously complicated and when you change something so that users suddenly cannot go diagonally anymore it completely destroys the room. There are tonnes of wired mazes currently sitting a state where if someone sits on a chair on a roller-bridge, the room is broken and the entire maze cannot be completed (without glitches).
However, the most infuriating bit about it is that they have the gall to introduce such changes without a single mention of it. They seem to be under the impression that users are too stupid to understand or notice when a fundamental change to the game dynamics is made. Not everyone is out there mindlessly playing Cozzie Change and "seeking rich HC bf"s. Plenty users know the game inside out and build their rooms and games around these long-established conventions of how Habbos navigate throughout rooms. Its a complete joke. You'll notice that the 'article' which describes the 'maintenance' that the hotel is currently undergoing is gone as well. The only evidence is a tweet.
And if I'm being perfectly honest, I don't have high hopes for them returning stacking to its working ways either. It has literally taken years to get to this point; for people to crack that aspect of the game so that users can stack things where they want and design more impressive rooms. And at this point in time a fundamental aspect of stacking (which has worked seamlessly since rollers were introduced to the game) doesn't work. It's an absolute joke.
And for what? Literally for what reason has any of this crap happened? There's been no information given at all as to why 90% of wired mazes have been ruined. No reason given as to why stacking convention which has existed for longer than most of the staff have worked at Habbo has been undone and no reason given for why furni which worked perfectly until last Monday is now practically impossible to use.
The disconnect between the people making these decisions and the users is absolutely unbelievable.

Yeah, the natural argument was just what they gave me. The developers did suggest it was the first stage of a future update they were planning but the fact remains that these games are already ruined. Most of these games we enjoyed playing before the staff who made them were employed by Sulake.
It is almost as if they don't think things through. Usually, I'd argue that the development team understand Habbo more than the community staff. However, the fact that community staff have recently championed rooms which would now be impossible with the changes show me that the community staff (powertoo, .beeches.) have a relatively decent understanding of what us, as Habbos enjoy doing.
Then the developers take over and make absolutely inane changes with no justification. I have no doubt I have played for longer than the vast majority of people and I have never, not once felt that the running of Habbo has been poor. I was able to give Paul the benefit of the doubt - he wanted what was best (imo).
However, these changes and the lack of explanation show total disrespect to the users who pay the wages of people making them.

The best thing to do is wait this out, let's see what happens in the next week or so and if anything changes! They wouldn't just say ''Okay I feel like removing diag walk today for the lulz'' - there must be a reason behind it, if deliberate.

Yeah, I waited a few days before I raged :P I doubt developers would have lied to me when they said it's to make Habbo's movement look more natural. It would explain why your Habbo can no longer fall from heights and diagonal. I know you can walk diagonal in real life but Habbo's walking diagonally aren't aesthetically as pleasing as the alternatives. So if it's just merely a case of aesthetics and realism I'll be very disappointed.

They could just be keeping something a secret, but if its not changed after the working week then we'll know for sure it's a stayer.

Yeah, it's just in certain circumstances they've changed it for which rubbishes their natural argument entirely.
For example, beforehand you would have been able to diag in the following screenie but now you cannot:
http://puu.sh/2RoAF/937c0809fe.png
It is because you can't stand on the pillow. So you can't diag. If it was a tile you could. Such a pointless change imho.

Now I don't understand why you can normally, but not if a furniture is there. Hopefully this is remedied in the next few upcoming maintenance's and we can see what's what :)
As for falling off furniture, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do this so i'd think that's only a bug.

I really hope these are bugs, otherwise what atrocious updates. I can't maneuver let alone enter several of my rooms now, some of which took hours upon hours to make (it's not just game rooms that are ruined, far from it, just try moving around in here (http://www.habbo.com/room/61431326)). They just keep limiting the options for builders and fail to grasp the voice of the users so much. If these are kept in, there's just no point anymore as far as I'm concerned.

I really hope it is just a bug. I mean people have put real time and effort into their rooms and it has ruined them because some of them you do need to walk diagonally ect. I think it's really stupid actually

I hope it's a bug :/ half of habbo would be ruined if we can't diagonal and walk through properly.
this is just stupid, these updates are just wrecking it imo, used to be good, now it's just patehtic

People have a right to complain when we have a COMPLETE LACK OF INFORMATION about what is going on. Only a select few ever find out bits about what is going on, if it was put on a news article that it isn't permanent or w.e. then that would be more useful.
It's a wonder the staff themselves know what's going on considering 99% of the players aren't informed either.

Habbo games weren't there best idea, I guess they wanted to engage the everyday habbo in something other then communication.

Thanks for posting that! Very interesting, particularly this part:
"And if I’ll have some time to spare in the coming weeks, Habbos may gain an ability to walk under stacked furnis, provided there is enough vertical separation. At least now this looks technically feasible"
Oh and to tag you need a ; at the end of the name :P.

Yeah, really interesting. Guess it will be something such as: if the furni is 4 units or higher you will go under it rather than on it. If that happens I guarantee a lot of rooms will have 'petal roofs'.
Just as I criticise them it's only fair that I say if they did allow you to click under stacked furni that would be good.

I can now walk down this and also what I really love is that going from bottom to the top can be done just by clicking where the top is. Previously I would have to click up 1-2 squares at a time :D.

Addressing my original post:
1) Not being able to go diagonal in certain circumstances. This happened a day after they featured an event on the homepage where you had to be able to go diagonal to complete it. Lack of communication between developers and community staff (as per). A lot of old mazes have been ruined because of this due to the owner not playing anymore.
FIXED.
FIXED
3) Unable to die in mat mazes. You can't fall from a high level to a low level unless there is a path down to it. So say there were 5 mats in a row that went up 1 z shelf each time. You could get to the 5th one. You could go from 5th to 4th. You can no longer go from the 5th to the square infront which would be the 6th (the one with no mat) your Habbo will walk back down to the 3rd one, all the way around them and to the 6th square rather than 'falling'.

The blog post that was posted made it sound as though the fixes were temporary but they would allow this functionality permanently as well, although they will just be coding it differently and other features like walking under stacks may be included with that.

Yeah, so I guess these 'fixes' are plugging the holes for the time being. Hopefully they last until a new way is developed so these key elements in room building remain. In my OP I was quick to criticise the development team and now I'm quick to say thanks. Even though I disagree that Rakker's video has been the only useful information he received from Habbos :P

All of the games that were lost are now back working again. Some need minor edits (the 1.25 thing) but that's a lot better. I also approve of the new stacking furniture item, will help hide wired and more time efficient than having to stack it 20+ layers up using pillars to hide it.
Also, I'm interested to know whether we will be able to step under stacked furni. The concept of guest rooms having 'roofs' would become a lot more popular and I'm sure I could think of new games should it be allowed.
In addition, you can no longer diag from the doorway. Not really much of a big deal but you used to be able to. It isn't important and I know you don't want to hear "that's how it used to be!!" rhetoric but I thought I'd let you know. In the following screenshot, last week or two you would have been able to access the room, you can't now:

The updates on the blog are great too, a lot of other games (Mojang etc) have blogs where developers post the recent updates, I think Habbo should too :)
