I've never watched emmerdale myself but he was a key face in the soap industry and its an absolute shame he is no longer with us.
"A statement released by ITV described him as a ‘pillar of the show’.
‘He will be greatly missed around the Emmerdale studios but will forever live on in all the wonderful memories we have of him,’ the statement added.
‘Richard was a true professional and a complete gentleman. His charm, wit and effortless grace will be sorely missed.’"
Rest in peace!
