Ok... I am just going to go straight to the debate!

What is the point of having a Scam Forum if we're not allowed to post the names,

Reasons for:
1) We can help prevent our community of being scammed!
2) Stop people from trading these people so hopefully it will stop!
3) If there embarrassed about being posted on the forum they will stop eventually!


Reasons Against:
1) Not sure if its obeying the habbo way!
2) Just let the carry on the way it's normally been!
3) Not every has full evidence of!

There's probably more but just can not just think of them right now, I think we should be allowed to if we have legit evidence! Even if it is in a spoiler?

I say it shouldn't be allowed. Scammers can easily create clone accounts, and there's nothing to stop me from saying:

"Grumke scammed me 100 credits"

Yes, it's fake! But if I can whip that up in 5 minutes, don't you think other people can create 'fake' proof? It's just not worth the hassle really.

The rule is the way it is so that the forums aren't full of arguments and accusations aren't flying everywhere. As shown 'evidence' can easily be edited and it would just be an overall nightmare. At the end of the day if people know how the scammers are scamming, they don't really need to know the name of the scammer? And of course they could just talk to the OP if they really wanted to know?

What about video recorded proof? Yeah images are very easy to edit but videos are a bit more difficult for the average user.

I would be ''more inclined'' to allow name posting with video proof, but on the safer side I saw we just leave it as it is and have people PM the names if they want.

Wasn't implying it was impossible but if a younger player scammed I would imagine they'd have less knowledge on how to edit a video over an image :P

It's just a lot more hassle for forum staff changing this rule really, not worth it.

Obviously if I had more time, I would make it more realistic, bring in someone else, and show you scamming furniture and what not, but this just proves I can get a video of anyone saying/doing anything, which is close enough for my liking :)

The point of the scams forum is to warn people of the scams out there, not who did it. Most people who scam use fake accounts anyway so it would be pointless naming them. People will also make up scammers to ruin their reputation which is what has happened before and it's unfair. You shouldn't need to name the scammer, your reasons for aren't any better than your reasons against.

It also causes arguments as people have already said.

There's nothing wrong with how this forum operates at the moment, and naming scammers should not be allowed at all, because what happens when they see it on this forum? It'll only start arguments and potentially bullying. Not to mention that proof can be faked, like Kardan; pointed out. This forum allows people to share the types of scams that are going on, educating people in regards to those scams and how to avoid them, and therefore hopefully reducing the amount of people being scammed by them if people saw the thread. For example, if someone didn't post about the jade/turquoise laser scam then some users on this forum might have fallen for it, but because of that thread they could have realised what was happening and cancelled the thread before its too late.

Even though you can't name scammers, with or without proof, this forum still serves a purpose :).

They should be allowed to redeem themselves after they have committed the scam. I think all scam allegations should also be accompanied by some visual evidence.

It'd be a lot harder to fake a video of say a casino trade... Images obviously aren't acceptable because of how easy they can be changed. And no... of course I didn't read the thread. Who would possibly do that on a forum? -.-

That's because I did it on a foreign hotel :P But do it on an English Retro and you shouldn't be able to tell the difference. I cba to go looking for them though when I have revision to be doing, but it can be done :P
