Hi!

I'd be thankful if you could all quickly take this survey I have created: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2PMDMY3
(http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2PMDMY3)
It is for my Citizenship GCSE and is on the subject of 'Is the police stop and search method used in a justified manner?'

+rep for you all who do it!!

Thanks a lot :)

Ahaa thanks ;3

It's for the Citizenship GCSE.
We all had to pick a topic which we feel strongly about and independently research it, talk to people who have an influence/importance on it and get the word out etc

It's quite fun and interesting :)

Briefly goes over it at the top of the survey ;)

It's when you randomly get searched like, at the side of the street ye? Or your car is pulled over and searched. Like they have reasons to believe you're carrying something like drugs/weapons so they search you

Hm. Well as I've had to do a lot of research on the topic you could say that this research has affected my view largly.

But IMO; the police in a sense are racist as the number of black people search compared to white should never be that high - it's almost doubled! But I guess the fact that it has been statistically shown to have a higher crime rate in areas with more ethnic minorities, the number of stop&search will be higher in this area, making the number of black people searched rise.
If you see what I mean.
But I still think rules regarding the stop and search should be revised to see a change in these numbers.

That's interesting :)

I don't think (as with everything) it's 100% one way or the other. Yeah statistics show a black man will commit more crimes on average than a white man, but that's not true for everybody and the police certainly shouldn't discriminate on a daily basis.

Another thing is that if it keeps society safer, I'm for it. Maybe. Haha I don't really know :P

Tbh I have no clue what course it is. All I really know is it's for GCSE. It's a new course that has started running this year in my school and it's compulsory soo

Stop and search is a huge source of malcontent, especially in young black male communities, and so may actually provoke them into committing crime anyway as they feel as if they are being treated as criminals already, even without breaking the law. Just a thought.

Done it for you Cerys!

I was looking at the broader picture. If stop and searches weren't carried out at all then we'd all be screwed. Just a thought :P
