View Full Version : "I'd probably watch child porn" says ex-TV presenter
Nick Ross has sparked further controversy after admitting that he would "probably" watch recorded child sex abuse if asked.
The ex-Crimewatch host was speaking at The Telegraph Hay Festival where he made the comments.
"We're all inquisitive," Ross was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
"I had never seen, until I started working on Crimewatch, child pornography."
He added: "I think if someone came to me and said, 'Would you like to see what all the fuss is about?', I'm sorry, I probably would say yes."

just because he's an ex tv presenter this makes the news, seriously
you go ask the same question in the street and i'm sure for some you'll get the exact same reply, or some not bold enough to admit it

How does that make him vile? Juries, solicitors, criminal investigators and judges see all of this all of the time. If you were in that profession, and despite crime watch being a TV show designed to leech off of rather serious criminal offences, the people who work for it do get faced with serious crimes such as child abuse and pornography. From a deeply analytical point of view, it could be interesting to see "what the fuss is all about" if you are faced with child abuse claims and pornography allegations, because in order to fully understand the seriousness of the crime, you must actually see what makes it a crime. It happens all the time in rape cases.
Honestly, people who think this makes him an evil, twisted, vile human being no better than Jimmy Savile are too naive and frankly too dumb to function.
v interesting i didnt think of it like that. they have probably just twisted his quotes for some headlines anyway tbh

I guess it's one thing to say you'd watch it and another to actually watch it.
Though for me just the thought if it is awful.

That's a really interesting argument and I didn't think of it like that :o

Oh yeah his comments were pretty vile, as it takes away responsibility from the rapist and blaming the actions on the victim, which doesn't make sense. In some respects dressing up could be conceived as wanting to impress someone - but impressing isn't an invite for sex or even a relationship :P Rape is never justifiable.
Also, my comment was aimed at anyone in particular, just how he is generally being perceived and written about in the article.

No, you don't want to see threads like that because big words frighten you so instead you post non-stories and create a fuss about them.

I'm not too sure on this... I understand that from his profession he's seen it, and that's acceptable... Many people in certain professions have to deal with these things... But to say, if you were given the choice to watch it, he would... I don't know, that's a bit dodgy. I mean, surely he already knows what the fuss is about?
Given the chance, I certainly wouldn't. I'm not interested in it, and I'd rather not have some brutal thing stuck in my memory for the rest of time, I can't imagine things like that to be very pleasant. Why he decided to actually talk about these things though, I don't know.
And for everyone saying they would watch it, have fun with the government tracking your internet history for the rest of forever... :P
