Daily showers could become a thing of the past, if a new beauty trend called 'cleansing reduction' takes off.
Instead of bathing every day, proponents whittle their washing habits down to once or twice a week on the grounds that too much cleansing can strip the skin and hair of essential natural oils.
While it might sound disgusting, it would seem that cleansing reduction is catching on, after a poll for tissue manufacturer, SCA, found that 41 per cent of British men and 33 per cent of women no longer shower every day.

Many years ago people never used to wash often for sexual reasons also, I think I read an account of Napoleon writing to his wife/lover in wartime asking her not to bath for a few weeks so that when he returned he could smell her 'scent' - it's all to do with pheromones I guess.

But no, i'll stick to my one a day/one every two days thanks. :P

Dunno bought you lot but as a child I'd only bath once a week sometimes, nowadays I'll go 3 usually the max but 3 is pushing it, i'll only go 3 if im sitting around, 2 if im just doing small things like going for a walk or w/e but if I'm actually doing something like going college etc I'll have a wash daily (that's if I wake up on time :P).

An interesting idea. I think I remember in science or history (somewhere) that it can be good for the skin, as you're not washing away useful salts.

i shower at least once a day in the morning or at night. i sometimes don't wash my hair everyday though and use dry shampoo instead. i definitely couldn't leave the house without washing i would feel horrible

During the summer I take showers like 3 times a week, and 4 if I have to go somewhere. During school, I usually shower 2 times a day, day and night. It's not for hygienic purposes, it's because my parents have a really busy schedule and since my bathroom is under construction I have to shower in their room every morning, and sometimes I can't so I take showers at night instead. x)

When I can't though I use dry shampoo though because my hair gets greasier than that guy who was behind WikiLeaks.

I shower every other day, however the nights I don't shower I simply wash my hair over the bath as i use wax and it gets kinda greasy by the end of the day.

I shower every day, unless like im hungover and cba. i guess to keep natural oils, you could just wash your armpits, genitals and hair when greasy then a full body wash once a week? I won't be doing this though :L

I have a shower everyday unless I'm not going anywhere and I would like to keep it that way - you would stink and have really greasy hair if you showered only once a week, ew..

I have a shower every day in the morning and then twice a week i have one in the evening too where I do my hair as well. my hair rly just doesn't get greasy at all and if i wash it too much it just goes horrible and dry.

would never cut down the full body washes though i can already smell by the time i'm back from home if i dont take deodrant with me i dread to think what i'd be like otherwise lmao. probably cause I overheat very easily so sweat a lot when out i suppose

Its a long known fact that your body doesn't need to shower every day, your hair on the other hand... They do make shampoo spray stuff so you can wash your hair without having a shower though. Its still not hygienic to not wash your hair properly for an entire week, not to mention your body.

I generally only showered once or twice a week anyway. Nothing really different until the 3rd day. But I don't go anywhere so it doesn't matter.
