View Full Version : [Bobba] I was hacked?

So I haven't really been playing habbo much for the last 6 years or so, went off to university etc. and got busy with life, so it's not really a huge deal...

But every 6-8 months I log in to say hello and see who's around, and today when I went on to my main habbo account, I discovered all of my rooms were gone except for one titled 'Thanks'. I did have quite a lot of furni, not many super rares other than some thrones, but I had some rooms that I had put a lot of effort into making look really cool so I'm obviously a bit miffed over it, mainly for the lost memories/lost sticky messages, but not that upset since I don't really play. Mostly, I'm just confused.

I used to know all the habbo security stuff inside and out, and was always careful about my account. I've used different passwords on any forums (like this) linked to my account, so I really have absolutely no idea how (or even when) my account was hacked! Especially as I don't really play anymore, and I don't talk to anyone on habbo regularly anymore so I couldn't have accidentally released pertinent information in conversation. Also, though I think whoever did it must have been smart enough to find a way on to my account, they weren't smart enough to check my other linked habbos (I had several because I used to play CA, US, and FR, and after the merges I never bothered to consolidate everything into one account).

So yeah, I'm a little irritated, but I have furni should I want to play in the future (which I probably won't), and mostly I'm just thankful I still have my account since I really only use to to still keep in touch with people. I've changed my password and information and email, I saw there was that safety lock thing, but is there anything else I should be doing/should contact in order to protect my account from this happening in the future? I was having trouble navigating around the habbo site, can't seem to find anything helpful nowadays! Makes me feel old, haha. Anyways, any suggestions would be appreciated, I obviously don't expect getting any of my furniture back and don't really care about it, but I would love to make sure whoever did this doesn't do this to other habbos who do play frequently, and to whom it would be a big blow to have this happen.

Thread moved by e5 (Forum Moderator) from 'Scams' as I feel it is better suited here.

Oo I remember you. Sorry to hear you were hacked, sounds as though you have no idea how you were hacked - which is what happened to me too not that long ago :/. Did you use Habbo's help tool?

Ah, I remember you too, great to see you again! :) How's life?

And I sent off an emergency help tool (guess I sort of misused it since it didn't fit any of the 3 situations they wanted it for), but then they sent me a message with directions of where to go on the main page, and so I just submitted an online report. Guess I'm not really expecting much out of sulake, but I hope they do something about find the guy. Hackers these days are getting good! I'd be very impressed if I weren't so annoyed over being one of their victims, haha.

Oh I meant did you used to use the Help tool before being hacked :P, because I know some people had their email accounts compromised because of that. And yeah it's annoying that people hack others and then get away with it :(.

Oh.. Nope don't think I've used the Help tool in about 5 years! Wow, how did they compromise emails through that?? Fail, I hope its fixed now! And agreed, really ruins it.. Haha, to be completely honest, when I first logged on I thought habbo had done an unused account cleanup, and had just deleted my rooms because I hadn't been on in a while. I feel like I'm just not as quick as I used to be. :P

Shame you got hacked:(. Good you've used the help tool although habbo never re compensate for lost furniture which is unfortunate and won't be able to get your cool rooms you said you had back :( inconsiderate, desperate people do this!

I know this is unrelated but you used to be able to dictionary attack the **** out of Habbo's page :P Sometimes hackings are a complete surprise.. My guess is Habbo is poorly built and has lots of flaws in its security.

I remember you D:
Shame you got hacked, really strange that there's not an obvious way how it happened.

they might of expired by now but you could check on recently visited rooms, if someone is inexperienced at hacking accounts they normally enter their own room to trade the furni over so it leaves a trail there, it might be someone you know..

otherwise I'd guess your account was brute forced randomly due to the connected email address, in the past some people would load up a list of email addresses that are either common (e.g [email protected], [email protected]) or that are linked to habbo accounts (email addresses from hacked habbo forum databases could be cross referenced to check if they're connected to a habbo account) and then run a password list against them.. otherwise your computer was probably infected in the past sometime and they just had your information saved

it sucks that you lost the memories, I know that's the best part of Habbo being able to go back and see the rooms and stuff, I always take screenshots just to preserve the memory as Habbo won't be around forever anyway!
