Hey Everyone,

So I was browsing the "submit an idea" on habbo.com and saw a great suggestion (I believe). The idea is below.

Now this idea is really good and has over 3,800 votes! Surely they would have to put it in the game, correct? Well, Puffin the person who comments on the ones that look good commented this:

Is this a future thing for Habbo.com? Will we be able to change our usernames, I think it would be a great idea! I do think it should be free for the first namechange then 20c each time you want to change your name and the max is 3 times. I also emailed habbo.com for when this will be put in place as it's nearly been a year ;_;.

Your thoughts?
Thanks,

Puffin left ages ago, so I doubt they are looking into this anymore

It's a bad idea imo and I wouldn't want it implemented for the possibility of being hacked and having someone steal all your usernames. It would also promote selling/buying names.

Well not if it was only available to people who have been registered for x amount of time,
and if they made it so when you change your name you cannot then change it again for x amount of time.

Hmm it would be useful but at the same time it has a lot of problems e.g. scammers changing theirs name, selling names, etc.

Someone could still steal your name if they hacked you...

I thought this idea was scrapped anyways, I remember Paul saying it was on twitter when everyone said what a bad idea it was

You could also have security questions that you only know.

I don't think with the current direction (that being positive) that Sulake it progressing into that they would be stupid enough to implement something like this.

Plus the only real huge problem left to deal with after the channel 4 revamp is the moderation, imagine what pressures this would place on the already impossibly stupid moderators

It's not fair that people should have awful name that they made they made when they were kids. ;_; Also, they would be. It will be implanted one day.

& Think it's a bad idea because of hacking? read this.

You can have Security Questions that you only know to get your username changed & if you forget it well, your loss also to change your username you must have like the X badge for how many days (1825 Days).

Also unless Habbo wishes to enhance the black market in some way it won't. Oh well I am sure many have the same opinion as you goodluck

How would that solve anything? I have had my account since 2006 so would meet the first criteria and I wouldn't be changing it so it would be available to change if someone did access it :S

Would make selling names a lot easier. Also if someone logged into a rare name account surely they could just change their name? Think of the implications.. stupid idea.

I can see why people would vote for this idea as I'd love a new name but it's taken aha. But then yeah, the implications of it are probably far greater and would create a few problems. Nice idea though.

Personally I think it's a good idea, because I have some old accounts with dodgy usernames.

As to what people are saying about others hacking people for their usernames, I don't see why this would be an issue. With the safety lock feature they are able to prevent people from stealing your furniture, so surely they could make it so that names were unchangeable when your account is safety locked.

As for selling names, I don't see why this is such a big deal? I think habbo are more concerned about the selling of accounts, so surely the ability to sell a name via name change would reduce the amount of accounts being bought?

I hate my username but cba to move everything across and lose all my achievements so this would be good for me. It'd be good too if they merged all your achievements for all habbos on the same ID

I should say the same to you :boohoo: anyway back to the topic.

As for you, I have no burn to run cold water too. Therefore your comment isn't relevant.

Alright, so about this whole name change thing.. Once upon a time I was totally FOR the name change thing since I disliked my Habbo name at the time. But as I continued playing and realized that the name change idea was going nowhere, I just decided to create a new account, and continued to do so. About badges etc, Habbo has released badge display cases if you want to view your badges. Yes, I know they're 3-5c, but if you want your badges so much and a new acc, might as well use them.

This would be cool, I really want to change the name of my old main account, mainly for the date, it is annoying cos it looks like I didn't joni in the year that I did join.

Is there even any difference in selling accounts and names??? :S & I think people said you get locked out if you use a diff browser with the safety lock feature? I am constantly in diff locations and switching between browsers so enabling that wouldn't suit at all.

I don't think thats the way it works.. you get the same questions in every location and just put in the answers and you login safely to the hotel :D

I think theres a big difference between selling an account and a name, main difference is security. If you sell a name, you're just selling a word... if you sell an account you're selling all of the data attached to it... plus the original owner can always get it back if they know the original details. As for the safety lock, no offence, but I think you're pretty stupid for not enabling it as it just reduces the risk of you losing everything if you get hacked. I think it remembers what browsers and computers you use, so it shouldn't be an issue.
