I say thanks on small buses if it isn't packed because I know the driver will actually be able to hear me, but on large buses I don't because there is too many people for the driver to hear! I also don't say thanks to bus drivers who drive like ***** :)
I live in London and generally most people don't say thanks unless it's one of the last stops on the route
So, do you say thank you to the bus driver?

bit racist, the majority of london bus drivers are lovely and will let you on if you dont have enough money on your oyster or if they see people running to stop i usually see them wait for the person
Absently

It depends really. It's probably half and half whether I say thank you or not.

you must be going to a different part of london clearly then to me LMAO cause like none of them will let you on without a bus driver they are all rude and grumpy and argue with everyone and they certainly dont wait for people who are running they just purposefully wait for you to get close then close doors and drive off literally where i am

I get the bus home everyday from school, and everytime I get off I say thanks.

I smile but don't often say thank you. My bus is always really packed though so I don't usually even see the bus driver when I get off. Trying to say anything would be pointless because the person next to me would barely hear me over the noise, let alone the driver.

I say cheers unless the driver is an utter ****.

Yeah, I feel like its common courtesy.. I've not used a bus in about 3 years though

I live in London, and no. I'm often last on the bus on one of the ten routes around me and I feel awkward being the last off because I want to say something but then at the same time I don't lol. So no, I don't.

yes, always. my friends laughed at me because we got on our school bus, there wasn't enough seats for us and i said thank you whilst walking off of it, even though there wasn't a seat for me. ;| i feel so rude if i don't

Most of the time I'll say thanks unless they've been rude or are just moody.
Where I live I do but in London its pretty hard but I still try to.

Always, but if I get off at the back doors and it's kinda crowded I wave. I haven't had a rude bus driver in ages but I guess if they were rude I would still say it anyway.

Not where I am! Well, I find it depends what bus company and what route specifically, but idk I wouldn't say the majority. At the bus station near me that I travel through, I think there's at least one person who runs for each bus and most of the time the bus will drive off. Recently I saw a bus drive off without warning to someone who wanted to get on the back in a wheelchair, but the ramp wasn't opening and he just drove off after it didn't open :(.

LMAO. Same with some of the bus drivers I see.

Where I am, only a few of the 10+ routes are timetabled routes, the rest are just more frequency based I guess, and I'm sure they could afford to wait an extra 10 seconds to let someone on who's running :P.
Always... Except the one time the bus driver decided to swear out of his window at someone... :P
Similar to last year when I was on a bus going home, and a car tried to overtake while going round a corner so the driver got out the bus and started shouting at him :L.
--
Oh and I do say thank you if a driver lets me on after running and he waited, or if the bus is pretty much full but I still get on :P.

the other week I was on the bus and the driver was driving really stupidly and he had to break quickly and a womans pram with the baby in it flew down the bus it was awful to watch

I only say thank you if I've ran and they waited for me, which isn't very often since most bus drivers round here just drive off once you get to the doors.

Yep, don't see why I not. Polite thing to do really, well unless he/she isn't an absolute ***** then it's a different answer altogether. :P

I haven't got a bus in years but when I did I always, always said thank you. You think of the amount of rude people they have to put up with each day, it's no wonder they are sometimes a bit grumpy. I don't like being one of those rude people so I always make the effort to say please and thank you wherever and whenever. Walking past the bus driver and stepping off the bus without as much a simple 'thanks' is nothing more than plain ignorance
