Fast Food Ice Is Dirtier Than Toilet Water

It’s been discovered that fast food restaurants in the UK and China have ice that’s dirtier than toilet water.
It was reported the ice served in six out of ten of Britain’s most popular high street restaurants were riddled with bacteria.


Tests showed ice from branches of McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, and Starbucks all had higher levels of bacteria than samples of water from their lavatory bowls. Experts believed that the machines responsible for creating ice had not been cleaned regularly, causing a rise in illness-inducing bacteria.


In China, KFC apologized profusely after it was discovered the Chongwenmen story wasn’t sterilizing their ice-making machines and relevant facilities. As a result McDonald’s conducted checks on it’s own equipment and ordered the outlet to double disinfect its ice-making machines.


The Shanghai Food Safety Office said it had not found any excess bacteria in ice cubes served at local restaurants.

Yeah, but it's not like they ACTUALLY use toilet water... That would be too healthy. And they like load the ice up to the *REMOVED* brim it's ridiculous.

What are people honestly going to expect from a Fast Food restaurant, I understand there are regulations but I'm not this shocked haha. I never ask for ice abroad as I don't trust it abroad ok.

Guess I won't be having anything with ice over here now :s

secondly, yeah all ice anywhere is much less clean than water

thirdly, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT

fourthly, why would you pay for ice anyway, if you ask for no ice you get more drink

This has been going on for years. I'm sure it's been 10 years since the last study where they found it was dirtier than toilet water. Honestly? I don't care - never been ill as a direct effect from it. People are going to go up in arms caring now despite never having any problems.

this... i don't understand how this is news lol :S pretty obvious really aint it something like ur keyboard contains more germs than a toilet as well, who cares? nobody is going to die lol our immune systems are able to handle it
