Is it too late to put my iPhone in rice?

So.. 2 days ago I dropped my iPhone 5 in the toilet (yes ik, its dumb, clumsy etc). It stayed for about 10 secs in the toilet. I took it and dried it off with a towel. There was no rice at home so I just left it there. I'm wondering now, since I have rice, if it's too late to put the phone in rice or should I put it in more water then in rice, to get the full effect, sounds stupid but worth a shot, or just take it to the Apple store. Any other suggestions? Thanks..

Try it and see what happens. But since it's been caused by water damage expect to pay at the Apple store :P

If you haven't turned it on, put it in some rice, if you have then you are screwed, get it in some rice leave it for a few days, (as long as you can really) Test it quickly, then flog it to somewhere like CEX, make as much money back on it as you can, it could be absolutely fine once you get it out of the rice, or it could die 3 months down the line.
