Hey,
Not sure where to place this, so I guess under health and life would do.
Tonight has been the first time I've not slept through the night. Got work in a couple of hours, So I need tips on how to stay awake. I had a nap yday from 2-6 so I don't feel rubbish, yet.
Cheers!

i find that coffee helps but it makes me feel sick when I haven't slept plus it gives me jitters more easily
might be different for you tho
You need to occupy your mind. Don't read cos that makes you tired.
I found myself doing all nighters by sitting up, not lieing down and talking to someone/group of people for a while. I think I once did an all nighter sat on skype (not mic, just typing) and before just typing on Habbo.
Also stuff in real life, just find something to occupy you, keep your TV on on a program that interests you. I don't think you should watch a film as thats also associated with falling asleep to.
Good luck, although dunno why you need to do one :P When I did before, I wasted the whole next day just sleeping lmao

To clear things up, I just couldn't sleep and it got to 5am and just thought F*** it. I feel like crap. But a boat load of Monster and Starbucks Frappachinos has helped. :p
yes energy drinks help me but then the down after the burst of energy kills you lol (not literally)

Bit far lol.
The only thing that's ever helped me after an all nighter is lots of water, energy drinks did me no good cause the crash of them + tiredness was a nightmare.

I do all nighters all the time if I am not done with tutorial readings for class the next day which had light assessment weighting. I take these pills (completely legal, can buy them over the counter) called nodoz and they keep me awake 20-40 hours..

If there's someone else who could do an all nighter with you the two of you are more likely to stay awake just because the other can wake you up if you fall asleep.

I know it's a bit late to answer to this thread, but in the morning, an apple is more effective than coffee when you want to wake up.

Finding fresh air, i.e car window, a fan etc. Walking about as much as possible and ensuring you don't allow your mind to wonder into oblivion.
You should be okay to last this amount of time without proper sleep. Good luck :D
Coffee and Red Bull. I had quite a few at Uni, they suck. The only good thing about them is how well you sleep after!
Oh and I sometimes went out for a quick smoke in the fresh air. Although, I'm not advocating smoking, but you could go out and stretch your legs a bit.
Edit: woops just realized I may be a bit too late! Hope it went well :).

Talking would be the best thing, skype or typing because I doubt you have people with you. When I did an all nighter at a sleepover, when we stopped talking, I feel alseep more or less straight away.

it's a shame that the good eugeroics are prescription only. Modafinil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modafinil) is meant to be like caffeine but without the crappy side effects

I quite often work night shifts (11pm-7am) then get asked to work a double (either 7am-11am or 7am-3pm)
Keep yourself busy, walk around a bit. Try not to sit down as much as possible. Usually always works for me, caffeine being an absolute last case scenario.
