So this thread (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=784140) got me thinking, is Habbo still even a hotel now?

I remember years ago, even though many public rooms were not overly popular, their mere existence sort of tied the whole concept of a hotel together.

With the lack of public rooms it poses the question of whether it's more an apartment building or something like that (if it were to be categorised as some form of private property) since we no longer have the bars, clubs, gardens, hallways etc, or is the Welcome Lounge and Theatre enough to warrant the status of a hotel?

A silly question I guess sorta, but the entire basis of Habbo was to be a hotel to chat to others online right?
Do you think it's still a hotel or moved on from that?

It has always been the Motel California:

nah tab still says habbo hotel.

the loss of public rooms does make it feel slightly less hotel-y, and the addition of tons of furni, but at the end of the day, it's a collection of rooms in one fictional building, which is still hotel-like I guess?

it was mainly the public rooms which made it hotel like

Yea it doesn't really feel like it with the loss of the hotel view screen and public rooms removal!

It is still a hotel in the sense that the main feature, creating rooms, still exists. However, with things like the Game Center it makes it seem less like a hotel :P.

It's one of those crazy hotels that has everything and anything in them and you also get charged over the top prices for a one night stay!

I do think with the removal of some public rooms it has made it seem less like a hotel, since everything is all private it's more of a large apartment building. Things like the Game Centre also kinda remove the hotel feel.

They're still called Habbo Hotel on their emails though.

i find habbo more of an adventure than a hotel tbh, but ages back it used to be a propper hotel, like things were made to mimic what a real hotel would look like.

The only time it really demonstrably feels like a hotel is when you first sign up. They have a cool little set-up that gives the illusion that you're checking into a hotel etc.

When I remark on it I simply say Habbo; I don't think many people still use "hotel".

If I ever spoke of Habbo irl, I'd still say Hotel.
