Say Sophie Suarve Southhampton....... do you whistle ever so slightly when you pronounce your 's' in a word? I always catch myself doing it and wondered if anyone else is the same. :P

Don't think so, but I always find myself emphasising on the s too much (i do the same with the c in other words).

how to say s:

first of all, don't make your lips go round to start whistling.

Step 1. Lift your tongue up to the top of your mouth, but relax it.
Step 2. Keep your tongue straight!
Step 3. Go to the very top of your teeth, and pull back slightly until you feel a bump at the top of your mouth.
Step 4. Move your tongue down a little, to be about 4/5 up in your mouth.
Step 5. As you say it, pull your tongue ever so slightly towards your teeth, and ever so slightly down. (depending on letter transaction)

:)

(no I don't whistle)

Maybe I have but everytime I hear myself, whistling during the "S" doesn't happen.

Oh dear, looks like I have a problem then. :P

I don't think it's noticeable with others listening to me, but I just notice it sometimes - especially if i'm tired and my speech is slower.

When I say a word, for example bus - I would say bus with a little hiss at the end like a extra "S" at the end.
