At Habbo-playing age, it probably isn't quite acceptable (even in the eyes of the law) for such an age gap. Personally, I wouldn't really go for anything bigger than 2 years, but by the time you get to about 20 it changes a bit

If anyone under 18 dates someone over 18 then in my opinion it is wrong, in cases like 17 year old dating a 19 year old then it's fine

its pedophilia

Bit of an exaggeration. If someone is over 18 then it negates pedophilia. Someone over 21 can legally date an 18 year old.

To be fair, in the UK someone 16+ can legally date someone over 21.

In my opinion though, as long as both parties are 18+ then it doesn't matter.

So a 11 yr old with a 17 year old?

I swear you are allowed to date at any age under law, you just can't be remotely sexual if one is 16 and the other is under 16.

(or one is 18 and the other is under 18 in the case of teachers/doctors/etc)

Perhaps I wasn't clear I will edit the under 18 part...

If kids are under 18, then it's important that the age difference is pretty much nill. Teen years are highly developmental and it's not appropriate for developed and undeveloped teens to be dating.

I'm 19 and seeing a 22 year old which is the oldest age gap I'd go for and wouldn't expect her to go for any younger. It's like 18 and 21 is fine. 18 and 17 is fine and 19 n 17 is fine. 20 n 17 isn't etc.

Go by this rule: half your age + 7 years. Only really works when you're older though, so applies to very little people on here

There's a 12 year age gap between me and my boyf but it doesn't really affect our relationship because of our personalities.

It really depends...
I've dated a guy that was 6 years older than me, and it just didn't seem to be a problem...
If you truly like the person, I don't see why there would be a problem.
Just make sure it's legal ;)

My parents were 10 years apart, but they met in their 20s/30s which is alright.

It is wrong though, when you are barely a teenager and dating someone in their 20s. Now that's not right. Love may be love, but there are reasons why teens cannot have sex, drink alcohol etc. They are still developing and at times, their brains not matured to make calculated and rational decisions. It looks bad and it is bad.

My mum is 10 years younger than my dad and my step mum is 13 years younger than my dad, and I don't think that's wrong considering they're both adults. I think at my age (14/15) you shouldn't go for a bigger age gap than 1 or 2 years.

personally I think for a 20 year old to go out with a 40 year isnt acceptable however, maybe 25? I dont know its confusing like think about it a twenty year old going out with a thirty year old, realistically one of them was ten when the other one was twenty!

Different rules for older people.

18 and date a 10 year old is sick and wrong.

48 and date a 40 year old is perfectly fine imo.

damn right
i dated a 28 yr old when i was 17 & a 19 yr old when i was 15. they were immature though so you forgot their age. same as my friend, she's 20 with a 32 year old and she's much more mature than him.

mum n dad got together when he was 18 n she was 23, i couldn't imagine me being 23 n wanting to date an 18 year old boy tbh. woman loves a (rich) toy boy. also when my aunt was 45 she pulled a 19 year old lolol

@Imp! (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=24310); i don't see problem with 20 n 40 dating, ye one will be 60 when others 40 so it may be a doomed relationship but doesn't mean it's 'wrong' or 'disgusting'

WOW!!! LOL your aunt must be awesome. xD

Anyway my dad was my mother's high school teacher so she was 17 and he was 28 when they met. When she was 18 and he was 29 they were already pregnant with my brother, when she was 19 and my dad 30 my brother was born. 5 years later they had me and still were together for 3/4 years after that so for someone with such a big difference of age it lasted quite a while.

I believe that mainly girls when they are teenagers or young adults, tend to find guys that are older because at least for me I feel way more protected with a 20 something yo than with a 18yo.. Also even though the level of maturity is still lower than ours, there is a big difference between those ages..

personally wouldn't date someone younger than me and never have lmao buttons;

your 20 and 40 comment really depends on the people i think. One of my friends is 19 and she got with a 40 somet year old man which came with lots of baggage, he had an ex wife, kids... the lot. They were together for over a year but the amount of **** it caused between his family and it was just so messy. They had totally different priorities and she couldn't understand how his kids ALWAYS came first no matter what, she would say "it would be nice if I came first once in a while" and I had to try and explain that it was never gonna happen because no matter what she'd never EVER be first in his life, it would always be his kids. Anyway it was such a messy relationship and I think when you're so young you're still really naive, let's face it most of us are still kids (I know I am even though I'm 20 lol) and I don't think I could take on all that baggage from someone. It's too messy and hearts get broken. Different priorities in life and different views, it's just ASKING FOR TROUBLE! Like I said though, most probably totally depends on the person but I wouldn't want it in a million!

maturity plays a lot into it as well, especially when you're between 15-25: boys usually mature later and that's why girls are usually attracted to older men, at this age anyway. I find that, in my relationships where the guy has been older by at least 2 years (most of them), I found it easier than with people closer to my age, because I matured quite early and men... tend to take a while. I know far too many 20 year olds who still act like 14 year olds. Even with friends, I've always kept friends who are considerably older than me better than of the same age/younger.

Obviously there are some exceptions, and some younger people are more mature than you'd expect for that age!

ok i'm gonna answer this seriously now

i've never had a problem with age, when i was 16/17 there was this barman who was about 25/26 and we had the most amazing connection ever, i really really fancied him and we would ask specifically to work together and we just got on REALLY WELL. so that would have been about an 8-9 year age gap but if you can connect with someone on some sort of emotional/intellectual level then i don't see why age should even have to come into it. obviously if they're below the legal age of consent it's gonna be complicated and it wouldn't be socially acceptable and i can understand that. we never pursued it or anything because of WHAT PEOPLE WOULD THINK, which is a shame.

i think people make age gaps out to be bigger than they are, i've been with someone 5 years younger than me and i've been with someone 7 years older than me and it doesn't really make a difference, if there was no such thing as age YOU PROBABLY WOULDN'T EVEN NOTICE. anyway if they're both over the legal age of consent than DATE AND **** WHOEVER THE HELL YOU WANT

Swings and roundabouts.

I think social convention pushes pretty much this whole subject manor.

For instance, If you see a girl dating a younger guy (For arguments sake lets say She's 19 and the guy is 16) nobody bats an eyelid, however if you flip that so the guy is 19 and the girl is 16, suddenly its a much bigger issue.

I know peer pressure can play a lot into young relationships, and social convention again doesn't help (In society now, its considered normal for 12 year olds to be dating, am I the only one who thinks that is horribly wrong?) Obviously there needs to be the legal side of things but, at the same time if you want to be with someone, why should anyone else have a say? But I only think that applies to... mature teenagers I think is the best way of describing it, obviously everyone matures differently, but you should do things when you feel ready.

I didn't have my first girlfriend till I was 16, and she was 15, it lasted about a month, and the circumstances surrounding that and my current relationship are linked, I'll cut it short and say simply I liked someone, they weren't sure, I think I wanted to make her jealous (We were basically best friends) so I went out with this other girl, we broke up about a month later when it became obvious to me she was a **** and I needed to get out.

Two months later, I made it out of the "friendzone" and we are still together now, I think knowing someone before a relationship can help a LOT, we knew each other for a good year before we got together and I think it helped a lot, and when you are 13/14 you don't know this, you don't have the experience to make good judgements.

I'm not saying everyone is the same, but I don't think at a young age, you should be dating people that are older then you by a year, at the maximum, Obviously once you mature you can make that decision for yourself and at the end of the day, age is just a number, but don't abuse it.

IN SUMMARY

Younger then 16? Don't date older people.
Older then 17? Date who the hell you want, its your life, you live and learn.

Sorry for ranting x
