At the moment I'm in the middle of writing scholarship applications for University next year, and also touching up my resume.
I was thinking of what I could put down for volunteer work because I really have nothing so I asked my mum, who suggested I write about "that Habbo thing you do". I hadn't even considered putting down Habbox things, because it's just a thing I do online really, but my mum thinks writing that I've volunteered for an internet site for almost two years is worth putting down as it would look good.
My mum isn't exactly sure what I do at Habbox, I mean she used to think I was a Habbo moderator lol but she knows I do some "managing help type thing" and is always suggesting I keep a list of what I've done and put it down on my scholarship application. She really reckons it would be beneficial seeing as I'm wanting to go into media and communications, and possibly IT.
So basically my question is, have you or would you put your Habbox jobs (or any other Internet jobs you've done) down on your resume or applications for University scholarships or something similar? Maybe only if you were a senior/manager/general manager? Or if you were applying for a radio job and had been a head DJ on HabboxLive for example?

I suppose to an extent what you've done at habbox would be beneficial to put down in the sense that you're familiar with the forum based website and have gained a senior role in a quite well established (and well known website) so to that extent it would be good to put on your CV but then at the same time do you want people knowing you play habbo?

Tbh I've never even considered doing so, and I doubt I ever would but I guess you could put it down if you wanted to :P. I guess it'll look good having more voluntary work.

Actually, I was speaking to my boyfriend about this as it would help a great deal and I believe it has helped lawrawrrr; and xxMATTGxx;, but correct me if I'm wrong.
When I update my CV I will be adding my stuff on it as 4 years is a lot of time for me, and two years is for you. Also, if you don't want people to realise fully what it was for you could tweak the titles, for example I'll probably put Values Manager and Media Manager as opposed to Rare Values Manager and News Manager. A good point we touched up upon last night was the fact if it came down to an interview you can talk about it and show an interest. It'll also prove that you have social skills and can help people, depending what your role is of course.
I'd put it on Erin as it should help you in the future.

Yeah I put on the fact that I was News manager, ran online competitions/event and am a graphic designer basically. I think it's helped, it's helped in my student media role that I had Habbox experience!
It's just finding the right wording really, for hxhd I'd say an information or help department on a website?

personally, i just never would and i'd find it quite frankly embarrassing :P i'd rather just go out and volunteer somewhere irl
dont think id ever put habbox down on my cv lol
when i was having my college interview i mentioned that i made graphics for a website/forum that i'm a member of and my tutor seemed pretty impressed, i can't see anything bad coming from putting it down and idk why you'd get embarrased because you wouldn't have to name the site or say what it is to anyone if you didn't want to. you should go for it!

I never mentioned Habbox specifically but I did mention I volunteered for a website and went into what I did etc etc. The person who did the interview actually asked about it and it looks like it did somewhat help me get the current job I have.

Genuinely cannot imagine referring to Hx in a job interview haha

If I was coding for the site or making graphics and thought it would be beneficial then I'd probably talk about it in my CV
I was able to talk about this in my interview for my current placement year and they absolutely loved it, including being a Habbo Helper, they went crazy for it (because it was the time of the whole channel4 thing) but it kind of applied to my job when I spoke of it

I would never talk about it. Imagine if they wanted proof! Samanfa; what would you say if they asked in detail what a 'values manager' was?

I'm not too sure, I'd probably say it was more of a content role ensuring the information on the site was accurate as that's basically what the Rare Values team does. I'd think about it probably when they asked about it lmao :P.
u guys omg......ur funny
i guess if ur a techy person going for a techy job then u can say u volunteer on a site doing whatever u do updating things. but i dont even know where to begin with ur hxhd experience

Personally, I wouldn't like to be asked about it.. so I wouldn't put it.
However, if you're confident enough to discuss it then yeah it could be useful - as long as you explain WHY it's relevant, what it has helped with etc. For example, as HxHD Manager you lead a team, you organise recruitment/training etc - all exaggerated, I know, but that's the kind of thing that employers are looking for - organisation, leadership, etc.

"Yes, I was part of the events team at Habbox. I think this shows that I have creativity, as I actually did the same event every day of the week."
"Actually, I was on the Rare Values team at Habbox. It was great as I could try and fix values to benefit myself, and that is why I would make an excellent banker."

Can't imagine it would help out applying for a job with children:
"I play Habbo where I run events with teenagers!"
"Isn't that the teenage chatroom where the paedos hung out? And you're... 28? Hmm..."

From job application to prison.. :L
"I run events for 10-15 year olds. My favourite is Kiss or Diss. The Strip Club does well too."
