Nice what model and is it any good??

The plane is done by Tenkuu Developers Studio (TDS) and are a small group of people who was part of Project Opensky. The model is not that bad actually but if you want panel/sounds and so on then you will have to either add them yourself or not have any at all. I just went with the model for screenshot purposes.

Just wondering, I dunno if this is a silly question haha but, can you play this like in real time? So if the real life flight from leeds - london took 1 hour would it also take 1hour on the simulator etc?

Would be pretty cool if it worked like that :P

You can turn crash detection off and it'll just bounce back into the sky. With it on, you will just sink into the ground and have to start again. :)

Just to add on what was said here. If a flight takes 1 hour in real life then it would also take 1 hour in Flight Sim. Obviously this depends on the aircraft you are in and weather etc. The simulator also has a built in acceleration so you can speed the whole sim up if you wanted the flight to go quicker.

Decided to try flying on my Macbook, Getting a very respectable 40FPS with everything on high!! (Doing a test "positioning" flight) Will get the 777 installed later on.

For those wondering, Thats a Saitek ST290 Pro stick also.

Not bad considering its running via Parallels too.

Haha can't say I have ever tried running FSX on a laptop before. Let me know what the performance is like when you have the 777 installed.

Just got the 777 installed, sitting at the gate at the mo, getting a good steady 35fps with 60% traffic on, and I imagine that will improve once I get airborne and there is less traffic around, rather chuffed to be honest.

If you include coke bottles, deal :P, I must warn you though, its a crap yoke (Does the job though)

Forgot what the total price came to but VATSIM members can get 10% off. Also this is the aircraft template database, I can't see the Level D listed but you can easily add your own aircraft/templates to it. I don't fly the 767 so I am not sure if there's a work around for it at the minute. (Probably best to do a forum/google search)

What exactly are templates? Compatible addons?

A template basically contains all the information that is needed for the program to collect the correct data for the flight. Also by the looks of it - It does support the Level D.

Here's an example:

Pretty much yeah. Here's an example of when you create a flight with the stuff you can edit/fill in:

http://mattgarner.net/uploads/2013-09-06_21-21-05.png

A good idea is probably watch a YouTube video or read the manual to get the idea what it does and so on.

Yeah so do all of that and when you have done all of that. Go to theme creation and then tell it which ones to install and once you have done all of your selecting. Click "Install" and wait until it finishes.

There is no theme creation? I've got Download centre, main, textures ,flight center, weather, fly now, options, config manager, help and about rex? Any help? Thanks !

Which version are you using? To be honest you may as well click on textures. That sounds about right.

I used to fly on VATSIM a lot, but I've not flown on VATSIM now for a good... 6 months, probably longer. Going to get back into FSX first, practice some ILS and VOR to VOR flying first, so far so good so hopefully will be back on VATSIM in a few days, I managed to find my old folder with all my charts and ILS information in, which is a huge bonus!

Did you have a safe landing? Any links on how to program the flight auto pilot etc. like ste by step guide?

Landing was... OK, Forgot to switch from GPS to NAV for the ILS so had to go-around and approach again.

As to getting the auto pilot to work, set up your route in the route planner, I use VRoute to plan my route, then export it as a file then import it into FSX, Once you have done that, its a simple as taking off, switching to GPS and hitting VOR LOC, it will follow the route, obviously set up the altitude and speed and off you go.

As for ILS Landing, put the runway bearing into corse, and tune the ILS Frequency to NAV1, wait till you are roughly on the path of the runway and switch from GPS to NAV and hit APP then land, turn off auto pilot when you are roughly 200 ft from the runway.

Very basic guide, any questions feel free to ask, thats just a basic guide in the default 737, its much more complicated in planes like the PMDG.

Nice shots everyone! Given up aha, I literally take off- (after over-shooting the runway), and then fly around a bit, look at the GPS and see an airport, turn the aircraft heavily and attempt to land at the world's weirdest angle and bam, you have a landing that overshoots the whole airport and ends up in a field far away.

Thats why you need a decent aircraft with an FMC and a proper route, perform an ILS (Instrument Landing System) landing which the computer does. Alternatively, do a visual.

Do the FSX tutorials, seriously, to learn the basics they are very helpful, you may find them tedious at times, but stick to them, thats what I did when I first started out, the tutorials it comes with help you learn the mechanics of the simulation.

What fps did you get with fraps rec and not rec?

Without fraps recording it can between anywhere from 14 FPS to 45 FPS, I have it locked it to 50 If I remember correctly. All depends on the plane, weather and other scenery. Recording I would say a stable 25.

I am looking into upgrading my card but have no idea what to go for at the moment or of its even worth it. FSX is a bit of a nightmare at times haha :P
